best way to keep yourself from not getting hungry is to fill up at mealtimes with the healthy stuff/balanced stuff. don't skimp on breakfast, lunch or dinner.
like for breakfast eat maybe eggs, toast and a piece of fruit....
have a midmorning snack (cheese and crackers, veggies in dip, hummus, yogurt with granola in it, etc)
lunch: have a sandwich or two with plenty of meat on it. have a piece of fruit and maybe some cut up veggies, a salad and maybe some crackers or pretzels.
pm snack: (something similar to the things above)
Dinner: try to eat a full plate of food divided into approximate thirds. 1/3 meaty stuff, 1/3 veggies, 1/3 starchy foods like rice, pasta.
pm snack: (something similar to what i said above)
just eat good filling decently healthy meals and then allow yourself a snack if you want one.
as for drinks, those are empty calories. if you want sodas and juices, get diet ones.
and as for exercise, try to sneak in some exercise with things you enjoy. walking the dog, hiking, etc.... -
Diet soft drinks are as bad for you as the normal ones - although they contain almost no calories, they contain aspartame, which aside from being quite poisonous, makes you crave carbohydrates (so you may find yourself reaching for slices of bread as a snack - I don't do that much since I stopped drinking diet sodas.)

they're not that bad.... certain sugar substitutes do have somewhat of an impact on your blood sugar and i think aspartame and saccarhin are some of these. they are certainly not poisonous, saccahrin got removed from the carcinogen list last year i believe. the rats the grew tumors in labratory studies were fed a bazillion times their body weight and a small amount grew tumors. if you fed rats that much sugar i bet they'd get tumors too! i used to have rats and they are tumor prone anyways. anyways.... yes if possible you should try to avoid aspartame and saccharin as sugar substitutes. better than sugar- but they still have some impact on your blood sugar which in turn could make you crave sweets. there are lots of beverages now that are using splenda. the diet snapples do. they are yummy.
