I know that I have HPV. I am more so looking for alternative cures or treatments. I know for women the test is done through a pap test. Well in men there is no test or no real treatment except for getting rid of physical warts. But how do you ever know if the virus is gone completely or not. One doctor already told me the virus can be eliminated naturally through the immune system but that can take anywhere from 6 months - 2 years. My girlfriend doesn't like the idea of not having sex for 2 years possibly and then me never really knowing if I am rid of the virus. I heard of a possible vaccine that is in the making. If anyone knows how long the virus takes to get out of the body or if it even can let me know please.

It's really inpossible to tell. As your have said, there is no test. The HPV virus infects the surface layer of skin, so unless you take a sample of all the skin on your penis for some type of DNA test, you can't tell. Have you had unprotected sex with your GF? If so chances are she is infected already.

ya she is definitely infected. we have been together for 8 months. No one knows who gave it to who but now it doesn't matter. We are planning on getting married so sex isn't an issue for us. I she actually told me I had HPV after I she had a biopsy of her cervix after an abnormal pap test 2 months ago. she found out and told me. I freaked and went to the doctor today actually. Had my first treatment of freezing. the doctor said not to have sex for a while. That's fine, but when he said you can get rid of it possibly but wait for 2 years to have sex I freaked. what a heartbreaker that was. Before I commit to no sex for a long time I want to know if it is really possible to get rid of the virus. If not then I would just say the hell with it and deal with the outbreaks one at a time. My GF has the same opinion. Thanks for the quick response. But also what about the vaccines that are in trials. How long does that stuff take to get out in the public? or FDA approval.

All I can tell you is that my wife gave me HPV when we were dateing. It took about a year before we were rid of any new outbreaks. We certainly didn't abstain from sex but we did use condoms for a while. That was about 14 years ago and we've never had a problem since.

hi my bf of one year recently was told by his docter that if he sees any lil whit bumps on his penis he should pop them cuz they could be warts and that may prevent them from growing . does this even make sense to anyone ????also i have them on my hands and my doc says there from hpv b cuz of the lil black specks in them... i really hate them and in teh past year they have spread to diffrent parts of my finger...i dont kno what to do about them

Popping them in order to prevent them from growing??? That sounds like a bunch of BS to me. As for the warts on your hand, there are many options for treating warts. Hasn't he given you some options for treatment? If this is the same doctor, then he sounds like a real flake.
