I got into a discussion with scottyearlier about some music because of Oklahoma. Iv always like James McMurtry, Im sure In mot the only one. seen him play the canyons in park city and the final concerts of the great zeplyn club in down town salt lake a few years abck. The song I currently have on repeat is one thats on his 1995 album, where'd you hide the body:Off and RunninAnswer me when I call to youWhat became of the life I knewTell me why I can't be freeTell me what you expect of meI'm so down about itI can't sleep at nightI sit watching the bugs as they bounce off the lightAnswer me when I'm calling outTell me what's all the noise aboutExplain to me the rules of loveTell me just what I'm guilty ofI somehow I must've missed itI never knew I was blindRepeat it real slow so I get it this time(chorus)I'm off and running to take what's mineI'm off and running againI 'm off and runningTo take what's mineI'm off and runningAnd I won't get caught this timeWith my soul on empty and my face to the windI'm off and runningI'm off and running againAnswer me when I call your nameWhat'd you do with my ball and chain?I'm out here in the open airAnd I can't find it anywhereAnd I'm so lost without itIt was such a part of meI guess I'll get alongHow hard can it be?A hell of a lot of his songs I feel like were written about me, I think thats the mark of a really gifted musician to make you think shit thats just not true, but feels like it is.Incase anyone gives a shit, the song scotty and myself were discussing was Choctaw Bingo. Ray Willie Hubbard did a remake of it, but his really is not nearly as good as the original. It deals wiht the nroth texas, southern oklahoma methamphetamine industry. I thought it described Oklahoma pretty damned well based onwhat I saw when I was passing through and Scotty found it to be a accurate depiction of life there and of the people that inhabit the state. If you never been to Oklahoma but wanted to go, find the song.

Yes damien, yes it was that bad.On the other nad.. Im currently listening to some zevon, Roland the headless thompson gunner... Roland was a warrior from the Land of the Midnight Sun With a Thompson gun for hire, fighting to be done The deal was made in Denmark on a dark and stormy daySo he set out for Biafra to join the bloody frayThrough sixty-six and seven they fought the Congo war With their fingers on their triggers, knee-deep in gore For days and nights they battled the Bantu to their knees They killed to earn their living and to help out the CongoleseRoland the Thompson gunner...His comrades fought beside him - Van Owen and the rest But of all the Thompson gunners, Roland was the best So the CIA decided they wanted Roland dead That son-of-a-bitch Van Owen blew off Roland's headRoland the headless Thompson gunner Norway's bravest son Time, time, time For another peaceful war But time stands still for Roland 'Til he evens up the score They can still see his headless body stalking through the night In the muzzle flash of Roland's Thompson gun In the muzzle flash of Roland's Thompson gun Roland searched the continent for the man who'd done him in He found him in Mombassa in a barroom drinking gin Roland aimed his Thompson gun - he didn't say a wordBut he blew Van Owen's body from there to JohannesburgRoland the headless Thompson gunner...The eternal Thompson gunnerstill wandering through the night Now it's ten years later but he still keeps up the fight In Ireland, in Lebanon, in Palestine and BerkeleyPatty Hearst heard the burst of Roland's Thompson gun and bought it

a mminute ago I was listening to nothing, wolfing down a burger and skipping through emails and this site. Then I ran across a thread and when I started thinking about distrust, a song was suddenly in my head. Currently I have it playing, such a wonderful song...Tom Waits: Everything Goes to HellWhy be sweet, why be careful, why be kind?A man has only one thing on his mindWhy ask politely, why go lightly, why say please? They only want to get you on their kneesThere are a few things I never could believeA woman when she weepsA merchant when he swearsA thief who says he'll payA lawyer when he caresA snake when he is sleepingA drunkard when he praysI don't believe you go to heaven when you're goodEverything goes to hell, anyway...Laissez-faire mi amour, se la vieShall I return to shore or swim back out to sea?The world don't care what a soldier does in townIt's all hanging in the windows by the poundThere are a few things I never could believe...A woman when she weepsA merchant when he swearsA thief who says he'll payA lawyer when he caresA snake when he is sleepingA drunkard when he praysI don't believe you go to heaven when you're goodEverything goes to hell, anyway...I only want to hear you purr and to hear you moanYou have another man to bring the money homeI don't want dishes in the sinkPlease don't tell me what you feel or what you thinkThere are few things I never could believe...A woman when she weepsA merchant when he swearsA thief who says he'll payA lawyer when he caresA snake when he is sleepingA drunkard when he praysI don't believe you go to heaven when you're goodEverything goes to hell, anyway...

C'mon Chance. If you compare late 70's disco to this rap/hip-hop drivel they're trying to pass off as music these days, it actually sounds fairly decent.Anyway...listening to Gnarls Barkley right now.
