OK, I have done a few searches here and found a topic already, but I'm still not certian of the answer to my question. Anyway, I've been tempted to download LimeWire. I have been getting conflicting info on this. Some friends of mine have had it for quite a while and have had no problem with viruses or anything. Others have said you can get plenty of them. My question is, can you get at all infected just by downloading the program itself or are the viruses from the actual things you download? I only want one or two songs that I cant find elsewhere and after that I will most likely delete it. Now, one more question. If I did download it, after I delete it, will there still be a chance of me being able to get infected?

LimeWire

You do not get a virus from downloading or installing the actual software, altho LimeWire Pro requires you to install a very serious piece of Spyware so just stick with the basic free package. You can get viruses from the files that you download, so be careful. When you search for your song, only download MP3 files, and only download them if they show a bitrate of 128 or more. And music files that are less than 1.5 MBs are usually viruses too. But just to be certain, scan every song that you download with your virus software. When you've finished, do not just delete the program. Uninstall it properly, then you will no longer have any risk of getting viruses.

OK, one more question. I found the song I wanted, it is 23 KB, and has a bitrate of 198. However, I cant seem to figure out how to scan it. I right clicked byt there is no scan option. What do I do?

The song is 23KB? Its fake. Trust me. 23KB would only play a few seconds of a song, especially if its bitrate is 198.And you can only scan the files after you download them. The trick is that when you finish downloading, do not open it with anything! Find the loaction that the file has been downloaded to, right-click it and hopefully there will be an option to scan it with your virus software. If not, then open your virus software and scan the file from within the program.

I'm sorry, I mean 23,000KB. It is also saying at the top that only the songs with a lock symbol next to it are ok, and if it has a star rating, its fake. Problem is, none of them have that symbol. Should I download it anyway?
