Good Ab exercises

lots!sit-ups (some will debate this... i'll wait)leg raises (lying on back, raising feet about 6 inches of the ground)russian twistsanything medicine ball related if you have one to usebridges (holding on toes and elbows for 30+ seconds)ask if you need a better explanation but really, its not abotu a million reps and sets every day. abs are muscles too, they need rest. so 2-3 times a week, if you do 5 sets of 3 of these exercises with 15 to 20 reps each time you will get some muscle. whether or not it's hiding under fat is another issue entirely but for abdominal muscles these will strengthen them.

"whether or not it's hiding under fat is another issue entirely"if that is the case then how do you get rid of the fat( and when i say fat i mean a small layer).

Sit ups are bad for your back ( you waited long enough to get into this, Ill oblige you) the rounding of your spine against the floor is a bitch. Crunches are much better and have bene proven to do more. As for crunches if you dont know, google.

First off, everyone has a 6 pack. It's just the matter of body fat that is registered on your body. Go ahead and do all those situps, it won't make a difference and won't make them pop out, it will stenghten them, but it won't all of a sudden get rid of the fat that hides your abs. What you got to do is lose that body fat with good exercise, and good diet, and once you get down to the bodyfat you want, then you strenghten them however you want.

This past weekend I used this big ball which I sat on and did the normal crunches. One thing I really liked about it was that the ball gave good support to my back so I didn't have to worry about straining or hurting my back. What's even better I could actually feel the burn in the abs, which I rarely got from laying on the floor and doing crunches.

ok, i was thinking situps as in doing that motion with a straight back. i call them sit ups because when people say crunches, they have horrible form, barely getting off the ground. i dont know what theyre called but if done the right way, crunches are great. thanks for the clarification.and about the fat, you need a caloric defecit. pretty much burn more then you eat. cardio burns fat and food contains calories. you can figure it out.
