Especially for pot?

How far back do saliva tests go?
-
I did some quick looking up. It seems that saliva tests for pot look for Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol itself, the compound straight out of the smoke. This is quite rapidly oxidised in the body to metabolites. Urine tests, on the other hand, look for a particular metabolite, 11-nor-Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol-9-carboxylic acid. The result is that the saliva test detects recent use only. Exactly how recent depends on the sensitivity of the particular test, but it seems to be a matter of hours - for one particular test, only 1½-2 hours.Urine tests look at longer-term use. One paper reports "Over two-thirds of these frequent cannabis users tested positive when they said they had not used in 1 week and one-third tested positive even though they said it had been more than 4 weeks since last use".

They can do that?narrow it down to using it an hour or so ago?jesus fucking christ! this is good news! The only reason I could think iof keeping it illegal was because of assholes that get into car wrecks and use it at worka nd a piss test only says you did it, not if you were doing it when an accident occured. with this new information that will let us know if you did it in the last hour vs the last 30 days I can find no reason for keeping hte shit illegal any more!to quote jack black and Kyle gross... The first decree is to legalize marijuana. The tyranny and the bullshit's gone on too long. You old fuckin' shrivs who blocked it's legalization, you're banished from the land! I suddenly have a desperate need to hear some tenacious D.. a lil explosivo followed by city hall, maybe some fuck her gently and tribute.
