My iPod shuffle is a real piece of crap. I've only had it a lil over a year, using it pretty frequently since I live in a party house and the need for good tunes is always present. N-E-Ways, I go to charge it up like normal last month, and it just flashes a red light. I call Apple and they say since I didn't purchase the one year warranty, I will need to replace my iPod battery, which will cost me about the same as a new iPod. I was like...WTF?!? This iPod was a gift from my mom, and even if she had bought the 1 year warranty, it conveniently gave out after 1.5 years. Now I have a $75 paper weight with an Apple logo on it.I will not buy another Apple iPod. Might get a Samsung or Creative MP3, but these fools at Apple think we're idiots. We can't share files from computer to computer? WTF?!? I bought this music!! I can't replace the battery after it COMPLETELY dies on me?!? I can't believe these M***********S at Apple who have no respect for their customers, and only wish to become rich off of ordinary citizens. I'm just glad I never got the Mini, Nano, or any of the more expensive versions, especially after reading this!http://www.beyondvc.com/2005/11/ipod_battery_su.htmlBOYCOTT THEIR ASSES, and never buy an iPod.

i bought an ipod shuffle one or two years ago but i gave it to my sister but its still working but i fink i might of had the warranty but i dont think so ipods are good i like the sound quality and stuff but its too overpriced
-
I've had three Creative mp3 players and they were all great. I would recommend them.I can't say too much about Apple. I've never owned an Ipod.
-
I'm glad hers hasn't givet out....yet.
-
I think I'll get that one next, instead of another shuffle. They make it sound like they're gonna give me a deal by telling me to purchase it off their website. Morons.
-
_I can't replace the battery after it COMPLETELY dies on me?!? _
You can if you look around. There are instructions and websites to buy the batteries.
-
my sony (n something) mp3 player is really good ive dropped it 100 times and it only has one scratch
-
yeah, that was quoted on that link I provided. I guess you can change the battery on CERTAIN iPods, and not my lil Shuffle, through Sonnet. https://secure1.sonnettech.com/product_i...0ddd6002b16145eBut why should anyone have to go through a third party to replace an iPod battery? You can also get around the whole file sharing thing if you go through a third party, but again, it's inconvenient and dumb. Anyone else have similar complaints? Damn, I need some restitution like the Vietnamese.

That's good to know. I'm keeping all these in mind when I decide to buy a new one.
-
Ive replaced my ipod twice in the last year.. im just glad i got the replacement warranty.. it was only $40 though
-
I got the regular, old, first version I-pod in sixth grade. It gave out after a while, not sure how long, but I think it was just because it fell >

I used to have an iPod when they first came out (the "smaller" ones that didn't even have color back then). That one killed the battery to the point where I couldn't listen to it unless it was plugged in.I sent it back, got a new one, put all new songs on it. Few months later, same story. Wouldn't play unless it was plugged in.After that one I said screw it, and just dealt with the fact that I could only listen to it while it was plugged in (which kinda defeated the person of having a portable music player in the first place, but oh well). Now I have a Nano which is doing not too bad, really. I've had it for just a couple months and it will still play for quite some time, so that's cool. But I probably just jinxed myself and it's going to screw up in the next few days.

Never bought an Ipod an never will. The first MP3 player I bought was an Iriver because I knew Ipods were shit after reading reviews for the hundreds of mp3 players out at the time. And even still today Ipods are shit, but people will keep buying because theyre "cool" my Iriver is cool too because I can beat the hell out of it soak it thrash it and it still works always! Agreed it doesnt look as sleak as an Ipod but the buttons are more practical and it doesnt break EVER, on my second Iriver now upgreaded from a 20gig model to a 40gig and the 20gig and the 20gig middel is still going strong after 2 or 3 years (apart from I smashed the lcd screen by accident on a camping trip so use the remote for the screen on my20gig one)

I've been boycotting ipods for about 35 years now.
I bought a 1 gig Skandisk mp3 player a couple of years ago. It's been wonderful. And much cheaper than the comparable ipod. When the batteries die out, I just open the back and install a couple fresh AAA's.
Of course it doesn't play tv shows and all that crap. But who wants to watch Friday Night Lights on a 2 inch screen?
-
Exactly. I don't need a 2" X 2" TV monitor!
