I listen to music like The Devil Wears Prada and Alesana. I want to know how to scream like the guys in these bands. Everytime I look it up on the internet I get some stupid shit about death metal growling and I know it's now what I want because I can understand what they're saying. In the screaming I'm talking about you can't ever understand what the singer is screaming unless you have lyrics. If you don't know what I mean listen to something from TDWP. Any advice other than "use your diaphram" or "dont use your vocal cords" would be seriously appreciated. Also, if anyone has any links that ACTUALLY teach how to scream would be amazing also.

How to Scream
-
pop your nuts into a vice, tighten, and sing.
some people have the range, some dont, Rob Halford was a screaming mother fucker, Iv heard many bands do his songs and they cant keep up the vocals, they simply are not capable of it. Some people can do it some cant. -
Rob Halford lives in the gay area of San Diego called Hillcrest. Just a side note.
Rob sings, and that's the main difference between him and what emoboy is asking. He wants to scream!
Tom Araya, from Slayer, has a blood curling scream at the beginning of Reign In Blood.
To do that, you have to either be able to do naturally (Which I just happen to be able to do) or take voice control lessons. The voice is one of those few talents people are born with, and that's why some lil kids are great singers without ever taking a lesson. Most cannot achieve those type of primal screams unless they're scared shitless.
-
first, start looking at falsetto , it's a way to get your range outside of the normal range.second, don't work too hard to emulate "scream-core". Too many bands are adopting the sound so it will just go away soon.Last and most of all, if you are serious, employ a vocal coach. A lot of great but amature singers in the rock world have blown their vocal cords by over-stressing them without training.
-
I knew rob was gay, thast what led to the breaking up of priest. FIght was good, but it wasnt priest. another side note, the first heavy metal concert I went to was priest with slayer as the opening on the world sacrifice tour. Not my first concert, just my first metal concert.

Slayer is awesome. I totally regret getting kicked out of that show. :frowning:

I'm pretty sure Unsuperveised is the only one who knows what I'm talking about. I don't want scream like a scared little girl, I want to scream-sing like in bands like THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA. If you HAVEN'T listened to them at all, try ONE song...you'll know what I'm talking about then. For everyone else, I've listened to Slayer...big whoop.
-
I was born in 71, I listen to alot of music, of many genres, I know what your talking about, but short of a qualified voice coach that can help, I dont know of any way to learn what you want to learn. and even with a coach, if your not capable then your not capable and no training will enable you to do it. sometimes you have to face your own limitations.
-
sometime ambition and money can correct for talent. Do you remember waht Meatloaf had to go through? He just couldn't sing naturally but he wanted to be a singer. Turened out ok.(oh yeah, and I'm always the only one who knows what anyone is talking about )
-
The original Line up for slayer was the shit! I've never listened to ANY of those bands you're talking about. But if you ever get a chance to meet them in person, ask them who their influences were growing up. You'll have a deeper appreciation for Slayer.Oh, GrvtyKllr, That same tour you're referring to caused a major riot here in SD, and they were banned from playing the San Diego Sports Arena ever again!I got a chair to the back of the head and still carry the knob around!

I was at the ac/dc concert at salt lake city that people got killed at, fucking wild times.
