Hey wasnt sure exactly where to post this I'm afraid. How do you avoid shaving rash? I have tended to avoid it in the past by shaving as little as possible, but I'm tired of not being in control of what goes on on my face. I use after shave cream and that does help but not enough; I still get really bad rash somethimes.

mmm I used an electric shaver from the age of 15 until today (four years later) when for the first time I bought myself the manual variety. Used it for the first time and we'll have to see how my neck feels in the morning to really compare, but if its actualy worse than electric then I'm growing a beard. Sorry to hear other guys have this problem!Yeah its good to see you guys again. I cant remeber last time I posted, but I dont think I'd properly posted in well over a year. I mean I think I have made a couple posts after a random glance over the forum but the not followed them up.I'll post in the appropriate forum section about my operation because its info that could proberly help alot of guys and parents. I meant to do that ages ago but I forgot.

It's very good to see you again, Owen! It has indeed been just over a year since you last posted.
I use an electric shaver and still occasionally get a rash under the chin - I think it's because bacteria or fungi get in the tiny nicks, and I find using a zinc pyridinethione anti-dandruff shampoo on the area helps. They do make special stuff like Tendskin to prevent shaving rash, and it seems at least some of them do work.

I use an electric. I've tried everything from purly natural to purely chemical products. My problem is that I have very course wiskers growing in every direction so they're like splinters sometimes. Also makes a beard REALLY itchyI'm doomed... good luck to you!

Okay I've been using a manual shaver for the past two weeks or so and its worked really well, or at least better than previously. I still get a rash but not as bad as before. I'm also making sure I shave more regularly, and that seem to help somewhat too (before I would usualy wait til I had a fine layer of hair stuble around my face). Thanks for all the advice! Hopefully in years to come we will be able to become clean shaven at the flick of a switch or something exciting like that.
