I have a few bald spots, fairly small, like smaller than a dime from accidentally getting hit with a hockey stick on the head playing pond hockey. I had to get stitches and the hair never grew back when the scar formed. You can't really see them unless my hair is reaal short or spiked up in the front. I was wondering if I could buy a bottle of this stuff and it would regrow the hair there. It's not really anything major but I'd be interested in trying it; I just don't wanna waste my money. Do you think this would work?

Rogaine foam for bald spot scar
-
No, it would not work.
-
These things, if they work at all, work by improving blood supply to hair follicles starved of blood, making them work again. Scar tissue without hair follicles won't be affected.
-
What about that hair transplant therapy thing? I probably wouldn't do it until I'm 18 or more, but it's not really that major.
-
That would likely work (transplanting functioning hair follicles and their surrounding skin).
-
How much would it cost for a small operation like that?

Scar tissue without hair follicles won't be affected. I think that's how Propecia (a pill) works, but minoxidil's mechanism may not be so simple. Increased blood supply may be part of the story, but minoxidil may also modify the effect of androgens on hair follicles, among other things. In any case, none of those things will grow hair in scar tissue. Or on a bowling ball.

If this involves poking holes in my head with a sewing needle and tossing in sunflower seeds sure!
-
It's a type of labor-intensive plastic surgery. It's not covered by insurance, and I suspect it's not cheap.
-
Aw what the hell! Let's go for it!
-
That won
t work since it is a scar and the hair molecules has been damaged. As for getting replacement hair surgery or whatever it is,it
s not advised that you should get it done, but it does work. -
Ive never used Rogain and i dont know anyone who has, but if that stuff worked i think every guy would be walking around with a full head of hair. Id say its just a gimmick and i doubt u would see any results. None of that stuff works, just like diet pills and penis pills, if diet pills worked everyone would be skinny, if penis pills worked everyone would have an 8 inch dick and if rogain worked everyone would have hair! Also the fact that its scar tissue reduces your chances to zero. As far as the transplant i mean i guess that could work but like you said the spot is smaller than a dime, you really want to spend all that money and go through that to get a pinch of hair? You could always try a nice comb over

What you say about Rogaine is not true. There were studies done, and the data had to pass muster in order to get FDA approval. It is not a miracle drug, but some people get some new hair growth from it. But it is true that it can't make hair grow where there is no viable follicle, as in scar tissue, as was mentioned.I don't see what the problem is with a small hair transplant procedure, if he really wants to do it and can afford it. I wouldn't bother, but it's up to him. If it's a small area, I assume it wouldn't be that expensive or complicated.
