I am on an antidepressant called Lexapro. Im supposed to take 30mgs every morning. I was prescribed in may of last year. I took them for 2 straight months then just stopped one day and didn't take them again for a month. now, i had been taking them for about a week straight but i stopped again.how bad is it to just stop? i dont see any change in myself so what's the big deal?

It's often easier for someone else to detect how they are affecting you than for you yourself. It's not bad for you to stop taking them suddenly, but for antidepressants to start working you need to take them for six weeks. Perhaps this antidepressant, or the dose, isn't right for you? It's usual to have to experiment a bit. Why did you stop? Because they didn't seem to be working?

honestly, i dont really know why i stopped taking them. it just started to be that id forget to take them in the morning bc i was so busy getting ready for school or something. but i didn't see them working so when i realized i hadn't taken them, i didn't make any effort to make sure to take them. i didn't see them working and i dont want to be drugged up if its not doing anything to help the depression.what is the difference supposed to be? if i take them, will i just be happy all the time? i dont even know what the pills are supposed to do. it feels like im taking these pills to make me "non-crazy" anymore but idk what im supposed to feel like.

They should eventually make you feel less depressed - happier, more energetic, more able to engage with life.
