Just a little background on the entire problem. I had what was considered a pretty minor surgery (45 minutes, general anaesthesia) surgery performed on my chest in early July. Two weeks after that, I had a generalized itch all over my body, I went to the ER (couldn't sleep due to it, benadryl didn't help) and they didn't know the problem, but said it could be scabies (my Dr. later said there was no way that was it). The next week I have flu-like ysymptoms; nausea, vomitting, aching, fever, dizzyness, the whole deal. I ended up visitting my Dr., who sends me for a blood test for west nile, viral encephilitis, and lyme disease. After the symptoms subside, about a week later (and after my blood test results come back negative) I get intense pain in my leg muscles, primarily calves, but also in my thighs.Flash forward and this has now been going on for about 4 weeks, without stopping. I haven't slept the entire time, can't do any school work at all due to not being able to sit still or focus (so much pain). Just two days ago I was prescribed Celebex to treat it, which, as far as I can see, just treats symptoms (inflammation and pain) and not the actual problem, which no one has much of a clue as to what it is. I was told it was myalgia, which plainly means muscle pain as far as I know. Does anyone have any idea what this could be, or has experienced anything like this before? If so, how long does it last and how did you finally manage to get better?

Severe Calf and Thigh Muscular Pain

It does sound like some form of infection, doesn't it?Yes, 'myalgia' is just a description of the symptoms and doesn't say what the real problem is.

Sounds like a possible blood clot from the surgery. If so, this is very dangerous. Bring it up with your doctor ASAP or make an appointment to discuss weather it could be or not.

Possible but I doubt a clot would cause symmetrical pains in both legs...Years ago I had some issue where all the muscles in my body hurt.. we never found out what it was.. The aches started and progressed.. After about a month of aches it got to the point where I couldn't walk up the stairs and I had to almost crawl up.. I went to the doctor and they took a blood test. I had some inflammation signs in the blood. He said it was a probable viral infection in the blood stream.. Sounded pretty bizarre but he put me on 600mg (maybe higher) Motrin daily for a month.. It got better and went away.. Like I said.. we never really found out what it was.. Maybe it's the same as I had.. Maybe not.

Thanks sdp! I'm on Celebrex like I said, it sounds like we may have the same problem. I think I've kind of noticed it's gotten better, as has my sleeping (slept maybe 6 hours last night rather than 3, only interupted once).I'll make an appointment with my Dr. to get my blood tested for signs of inflammation aswell, they even recommended that at the hospital. However, yestarday, my stupid self hadn't been sleeping, ended up smoking some pot and heading downstairs at my girlfriends. I ended up having a seizure, going to the hospital, and having deficiency tests (vitamins I guess) and electrolytes checked through a blood test. No problems there, nor were there with the neurological tests. I'm going to see a neurologist in a few weeks, so hopefully I can get his recommendation to be able to drive a lot sooner, given that once you have a seizure you're not allowed to drive for a set period of time.

Wow.. that sounds scary.. I hope thay can narrow it down to something more specific.
