Hey, I'm new here. I'm a 16 years olds, when i stay the night at my aunts house with my cuzzin, when i wake up they tell me i was crying in my sleep the previous night, if they were lieing they would have told me, cuz they use to joke around about me sleep walking, and later admitted it was a joke. But when i asked them about the crying thing they said they were serious. They tried to calm me down by handing me a stuffed animal, or a bible, but it would only make me cry even worse. I have no recollection of any of this and i dont even remember what i dreamed about. Does anybody have a clue why i do this?

I'm told i cry in my sleep.

firstly, i like your avatar and why would handing you a bible stop you from crying? i know i've woken up crying / sobbing cause i dreamt my mum had died... so maybe you just were having a bad dream that you can't remember?

okay, 1haha, thanks about the avator and 2 i have no idea what they were doing so i don't know why they handed me a bible. and 3But yeah you're probably right i probably was having a bad dream and i can't remember.

waking up crying is nothing to worry about, it happens sometimes, i work at a day care center and there are quite a few children that wake up from nap everyday crying

Just want to tell u that u cant cry from having a bad dream. You dream in the REM stage of the dream cycle and you are paralyzed during this stage. What it could be is a type of icubus attack (aka night terror) this is in stage 4 sleep (the deepest sleep you are in) and u will have a dream fragment, in most cases this is a scary image and mostly something that happens frequently with children when they start screaming and can't be woken up. Stage 4 is also when sleep walking occurs. Maybe during stage 4 sleep you are seeign fragments of images that upset you or having thoughts in that or the other stages that make you really upset. Crying may be a good thing though, it could get rid of all that emotional stress so you don't have to deal with it during the daytime when you are awake. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

stupid man, can you explain more about these stages? Or tell me where I can read about them?I wake up all the time either crying, screaming, or just scared as hell. I never can remember what from but it is interesting to know that at least someone else crys during sleep.

you can run a search on google for "REM sleep"
-
you can do a simple google search i'm sure but the basics are
Stage 1: this one i think is also known as the twilligt stage, its basically when you are asleep but not really and you still have all brain wave activity and heart beat as if you were awake
Stage 2: this is a bit deeper
Stage 3: a bit more deeper
Stage 4: and stage 4 is basically the deepest with the lowest levels of brain wave activity and heart wait. This is the stage where u will get the dream fragments that may scare you and cause you to cry and scream. Also this is where you sleep walk and stuff, all these activities are rather unexplainableREM Sleep: This isn't any one of the stages but your eyes will rapidly move as if you are watching something. Your heart rate and brain waves are just as if you were awake, so awake where you should be waking around and stuff, but you are paralyzed and cant move (besides the eyes of course) and you dream here.
Sorry i'm not that indepth and its basically just a more organized version of what i said before, but year u can read up on the stuff easily.
