Well um, thisi s sort of embrassing, I sort of have had abdominal pain in a short sudden and painful, but lasting around 2-5 minutes, but ONLY when I took "Smooth Move" a tea drink that helps soften stools ( I know this because it only happens when i drink it, I stopped after 5-6 drinks ) It only happens when I actually drink the stuff but about 5-10 hours later I get the sudden pain, then I get diahrra. I won't give my exact age but I am between the ages of 13-17 and am a male. I have had consipation, and this was not directed by a doctor since I saw it as a minor problem. I started using metamucil. Then I started getting rectel bleeding, I had very little blood on the stool and I read online that it could range from minor to serious. So I stopped drinking the tea, and read that it was good to eat foods with lots of fibers and stop eatings hard things to digest. My bowel movement is once every three days ( is this normal? ). Well the blood has not shown up in my recent bowel movement. I am a kind of person that exagerates a bit get gets overly worried. Right now i feel slight main in the section where the rib cage is. By the way what happens if you have too much fiber at once? I think my hand might have slipped when i put in a spoon... I also read that is is very rare for my age to get this. So can anyone help?

Abdominal Pain & Rectel Bleeding
-
if you have too much fiber at once you'll get gas and diarreah. build up slowly, maybe start with 5g for a week, then go to 10g and build up by 5g til you hit 25 - 30g a day. listen to your body...if you get gas and the runs, scale back a little. keep an eye out and if you continue to see blood, you really need to see a doc.are you saying you put a spoon up there? that is very dangerous! anything you want to put up there should be smooth, unbreakable, and most importantly it MUST have a large flat base so it doesn't slip inside and get lost! if that happens you will have to go to the ER to get it removed.i am not making this up.... google search on stuff stuck up there

God no! I meant a spoon of fiber... Not a spoon up my shakes the thought I would never put anything up there. That comment was totally unexpected lol.. And I was meant to drink 1 teaspoon every 8oz of water and I accidently took a spoon instead of a teaspoon.

Having a bowel movement only every three days suggests your normal diet is very low on fibre. Rather than paying money on supplements, it would be better just to make sure you eat more vegetables and some fruit (not juice).
-
one bowel movement every three days is concerning. Try changing your diet and avoid using more digestive medicines.
-
Ok then what is normal, and how many servings of vegetables a day? ARe there specific vegetables that i should eat, or are ebtter tehn others?

Here is some reading you can do:http://www.wehealnewyork.org/healthinfo/dietaryfiber/I'm sure you'll find it very helpful

LOL! sorry i misunderstood you as far as getting good and regular bowel movements, i don't really think it matters where you get your fiber from, food or supplements. however you'll get all sorts of other good benefits from good food, so try to go that route, or do a combination.

Ok now, its been one two weeks now? Well now the stools are always soft. But I still go from 2-3 days with some rectel bleeding ( keep in mind my age group... ) Thanks lots.
-
Time to go see a gastreologist... as for the age group you're talking about I was diagnosed with Crohns Disease when I was 17, so being young doesn't really matter.

I think I have a similar problem to you, our abdominal pains sound the same, I dont have rectal bleeding. Somtimes theres a steak of blood occasionally in one of large hard craps, mainly all I can do are turds unless i let pressure build up, then I get the big painful kind. My doctor told me to take Fibercons(doing 3 a day right now), they dont seem to be helping. I need to get back to him, right now I'm scared as shit since im like a mega hypochondriac, I convince myself all I need will be some stool softener but then I think of death and then I become fixated on the fact I might(the chances are so slim though its stupid to even worry) have cancer:( I really hope its not serious

Large stools can cause you to have blood on them. Your intestines and anus is rather soft tissue and can be scratched by hard stools that pass through. Does your diet include a lot of nuts or other foods that doesn't digest quite well and can be scratchy when passing? If so, you may want to avoid those. This of it this way. A girl's vagina can bleed if a guy is fingering her and scratches it. The vagina is soft tissue, much like the anus.
-
If you do eat nuts and seeds, you really need to chew them very, very well. I chew sunflower seeds for at least 2 minutes. Although this new bread I've been eating has sunflower and other seeds baked into it, and I tend not to chew them so well when they're combined with the bread. Perhaps that is why I have found some blood on the toilet paper lately, though it didn't really concern me seeing as I've had it before, (I can tell that it's very small cuts around the anus opening).
-
For those of you eating the shells of sunflower seeds, you're not supposed to.
-
I don't eat the shells. The seeds I eat are already hulled and in a packet, it's just that they take a long time to chew and break down properly, for me at least. If I don't chew them enough they don't get digested.
