I have been doing a routine were i only do push ups. i can do 50 of them like this 40 with my nose touching and 10 with one hand. I can see results but i was wondering if this was sufficiant. oh yea powerlifter i have stopepd runnin and started eatin more I have been having sleep problems but i'm workin on that too. Thanks that has helped alot.

Are push ups alone good enough?
-
no problem bro, i enjoy helping people. weight lifting is my life.
pushups alone will help you stay in shape, but if you can do anything for more than 20 reps then you dont have sufficent amounts of weight to really grow big muscles. You'll look better than the guys that do nothing, but wont look as good as the guys you lift weights.

I have started usin 25 lbs on my back doin regular push ups I can do that 25 times. But the kind with my nose touchin is prolly the best way to go. I can do 10 with one hand s i will just do that until i can do 20. Thanks again man

So he could gain weight. Ectomorphs have high metabolism and therefore burn more calories than normal people. Running takes away from muscle growth.
-
Ectomorphs?
-
Can you explain how does running takes away from muscle growth? I'm not doubting you, I want to know for future reference. lol.
-
Yes everyone has a different body type that stems from 3 main types: endomorphs, mesomorphs, and ectomorphs. The ectomorphs have a hard time gaining weight becuase they have a fast metabolism. The endomorphs gain weight easily & have slow metabolisms.

Yes running burns calories & nutrients & is catabolic on your system. Too much cardio will actually make you lose muscle mass. So if you're trying to gain weight & you have a fast metabolism you dont want to waste your energy & nutrients on running, becuase it will take away from your strength & size. Running also puts stress on the body, especially the knees, and has actually been shown to slightly hender a powerlifter's strength on certain lifts. It's pretty simple, why do you think bodybuilders bulk up real big for several months & then go through a strict cutting cycle? In order to lose weight you have to cut you calories & watch your diet strictly. In order to gain weight you must up your calorie & protein intake. See the two dont combine. You cant lose weight & gain muscle at the same time unless you're a genetic freak, a newbie, or taking steriods. The goal of every bodybuilder in a cutting cycle is to cut down to that proper body fat percentage while hanging on to as much muscle mass as they possibly can.

I see, I'll keep that in mind. I've always told people running is not good for them and always ended up being laughed at. Now I've got more information to back it up. Thanks.
-
runnin IS good for you tho unless ur trying to gain muscle mass.
-
Running is good for you, but he said if you are a certain type it requires cutting back to build muscle.
-
exactly
-
Damn I am good! Well actually I am a nerd powerlifter. SO naturally I have no time to work out right now, plus when I got to college I got lazy and I stopped eating. Not good i know.
-
lol, well you can always get back in the gym
-
I plan on it.

heheh, I'll stick to my running is bad for you theory. It's very rough on soft tissue organs and impact on the ground can be bad on the knees. Though it's not entirely bad because it's good for your respiratory system. Yet the same goal can be acheived by doing excersises that are less strenuous on the body such as biking or stair master etc etc.Maybe I was better off not watching that special on the discovery channel. lmao.
