I finally got Diagnosed with Depressin after my entire summer was left to worrying away about how I was feeling. However, When I finally got my parents to realize what I was going through and talked 2 a counseler I felt alot better just becuase I was relived. I start Provac 2morow. I'm just wondering if it is normal to feel alot better after you get diagnosed. I have one other question. I was feeling pretty bad all summer but only a few times did I feel just sad for no reason and the term "sad" is often used as the main symptom, how ever I only felt sad if something upset me. I did not feel sad all the time like depression is portrayed as. I'm just wondering is it possible 2 have depression without that symptom? But I did have many others. I just feel bad about putting my family through alot for nothing.Thank you

It's normal to feel a lot better after being diagnosed, because something is being done and treatment is being started. Just the fact that the way you feel has a name and is recognised as an illness is comforting.BTW, the Prozac will take some time to work. Don't be discouraged if you don't get any good feelings from it for the first couple of weeks.Depressed people don't necessarily feel sad. Often the main feeling is tiredness, or that everything is too much trouble. Teary sadness isn't so common.Try not to feel bad about being depressed. It's an illness you don't have much control over.
