He bullied another poster. Do you find that amusing?
-
Wicca
-
No i found it amusing that he said no he was a bullier....u know the thing i replied to in the first place?
-
Wicca isn't just a religion, its a way of life. And a good one. The ideals are good, but so were the ideals of communism. No religion or anything can get it right, all of them have their problems and stuff that others don't like. Whether you think its a bad ideal or not, its the ones who use their opinions to discriminate who are the real problem. Just because you don't like something, it doesn't mean that you can make judgements about someone who does.
Oh, and Steve, I know you said this a while ago, but you said that Christianity now allows devorce. Or words to that effect. Actually it is only Protestants that allow devorce, thanks to King Henry VIII. Catholicism is still against it, and you can be shunned by the Catholic community if you do.
-
Communism sure has it's good ideas: no advancement among social classes, totaltarian gov't, and especiallty operession!
-
Exactly, nothing is perfect. But the good stuff is still there, equality for all, no homeless, no starving... sure, it doesn't work, but in theory it has advantages.
-
In reply to: Just because you don't like something, it doesn't mean that you can make judgements about someone who does. Ok am i missing something? at no point did i judge anyone. Actually i said the exact opposite by saying i could care less what they want to do. Im not arguing anyway i just made one simple reply laughing because they asked him if he bullied an he said no he bullied.....thats all i said. So iono where my secret judging is coming from
-
Sorry man, I wasn't actually aiming that at you, I just posted that at the end of the line as a statement to all. But some other people did say that they would discriminate against others, and that they do.
-
You're full of propaganda. East Germany was a fucking mess. The Soivets touch in North Korea fucked it all up, even till today. They made Kenedy look like an ass and fucked with the US in the Cuban missle crisis. The Soviets went allover world trying to convert nation to communist. They had the Cubans do the same thing in Latin America. We were on the brink of war for 40+ years. I'm all for it!
-
The US did soem dumb shit durring World War II. First of all we became allies with the "USSR" after Hitler broe the Non agression pact. But, we did get involed so they wouldn't get swept. We didn't take care of the "Ussr" after the war like we should have. Did you know that there would have been more casulities if we would have continued fighting hand in hand with Japan. And it wasn't a Nuclear bomb, it was an Atom bomb, 1000x less powerful than the Hydrogen bomb. Yes, they did go around campaigning communism, they even gave the Cubans money to do it in Latin America. And i don't know how you can defend communism when its leaders killed more than 20 million people in Russia and that doesn't even include war casulities.
-
Japan could have avoided it all if they surrendered, but they were thick headed.
-
Yes, accually we gave Japan the oppertunity to surrener before we dropped the first bomb. Then, before we dropped the second bomb we gave the Japinese the chance to surrender, they didn't want to and we dropped it. Then they finally surrendered.
-
It was Japans fault they didn't surreneder. They knew what was on the table and they took it, twice. In accuality more people would have died if we had continued fighting battles in the South Pacific.
-
Why sacrifice more people? I'm sorry, but the US values their people more than the USSR.

Back to the thread at hand:In reply to:you said that Christianity now allows devorceNo, what said (or tried to say) is that real-life Christians, for the most part, pick and choose what they like and what they don't. Jesus had a lot to say about the badness of divorce (like it's only permissible in cases of adultery, if you remarry then you are committing adultery, etc.). If you believe what the new testament says, then you believe that divorce is a very bad thing.CommunismPeople seem to be confusing Communism, which is an economic system, with authoritarianism and totalitarianism, which is how it's always been implemented by nations. The Israeli kibbutzes (communal collectives) are probably the closest thing to Communism ever practiced.Communism probably won't work on a large scale. People are just too selfish to work their butts off for the collective good, when then great majority of the collective are people they don't even know. It's just amazing how, on the average, productivity increases hugely when people are given their own land to farm rather than farming as part of a collective. Areas have gone from barely subsistence to modestly prosperous (or better). The problem for Communism is that most of its best known leaders have been extremely corrupt, and didn't flinch at killing huge numbers of people (Stalin, Pol Pot, etc.; Lenin was no moral paragon either). And then there's North Korea. But things seem to function reasonably well in Vietnam nowadays.

"If they had balls they would have continued to fight fairly." Define fight fairly.......I'm sorry, but war is war.
-
In reply to:Define fight fairly.......I'm sorry, but war is war. That's kind of the idea the U.S. had when it decided that the Geneva Convention no longer applied to them when it was inconvenient. So rape the women, kill the babies, torture the men to death...war is war.
-
Thats not what I meant. As far as weaponry, war is war. Kill or be killed. Drop a bomb on somebody, or get one dropped on you. I dont get his arguement that the US is cowardly for dropping the bombs. We gave warning, if you dont comply you face consequences, end of story. What would be a fair fight? There is no such thing as a fair war.His arguement has nothing to do with the Geneva Convention or the treatment of enemy combatants. If I understand correctly, he thinks the US took the cowardly way out by dropping bombs instead of engaging in hand to hand combat.
-
Historians have been debating that question for decades, and it's not going to be settled here. Suffice it to say that if you read up on the subject, you'll find a lot of support for both sides. But the way history is generally taught, you hear mostly one side, and little of the other.
Even if dropping the bombs on Japan were justified for the war effort, having dropped the bomb has had ramifications. The U.S. is the only country to have used a nuclear bomb against people. It makes us look a little hypocritical when we tell other countries that they can't even have one.
-
In theory perhaps there is such a thing as a fair war, but come on........its total bs. The US is totally and completely into flexing military muscle. We are the US, and if you dont like what we say, we can eliminate you.
-
In reply to: The US is totally and completely into flexing military muscle. We are the US, and if you dont like what we say, we can eliminate you. This is exactly how much of the world views the U.S. This is the attitude that Bush projects. But to be fair, there have been times that atrocities were being committed on a large scale (Bosnia, e.g.), and the Europeans just sat on their hands, while the U.S. went in.
