Every time I start jogging, my knees and ankles hurt really badly. I can't even run for 5 minutes without having to stop because the pain is too bad. Is there a way to fix this?

Try warming up first. Also you should try to improve how long you can run each time, eventually(unless you have a serious problem) the knee issue will lessen and you'll be able to run longer until you have to stop. Also try Potassium pills, my dad uses them (of course he runs marathons) they may work. Also talk to your doctor.

This is the key statement. Joint pain as ImBob described is not normal. There might be cartilage problems, some type of arthritis, or some other issue. Definitely get it checked out.
