Your answer is correct and more detailed than mine. I was only trying to give a general answer and to encourage him to seek an opinion from his doctor. While I wouldn't relish taking those shots everyday, the point I was trying to make is that if you get a medical workup, there are (different) ways to control diabetes. It certainly is not a death sentence and if you take care of yourself you can expect to lead a pretty normal life.

And we don't know that smithywest has it - it's just one possibility that should be checked.

True. I'm sure that a lot more people browse this board that those who post. The response was not just for smithywest. Anyone with unexplainable symptoms should find out why.

I was lucky not to get any complications before diagnosis. I think I only had it for about a week or two. In reply to: you can expect to lead a pretty normal life I like seeing what famous people have it so that I feel I could do well in life too.

I don't think there's any way to know that. Your blood sugar can be elevated for a long time, without causing any obvious symptoms.

I was going to the toilet and being thirsty (another symtom) for about a week before I was diagnosed. But I had started to loose weight a while before. I was 8 and my mum could hold her index finger and thumb around the top of my arm. Now no one can.

i dont have diabetes i got checked. so god knows what else it could be...
-
Well that is good news. It was a long shot but certainly worth ruling out.

If it's not a psychological issue of some sort, it's a real mystery. I assume you discussed your erectile issue with the doctor, and didn't just go for a blood test.

i just got my dad to test me for diabetes, didnt discuss it with him...
