Just wondering how often people do a self check on their balls. I have heard that you should do a self exam every month and have a doc check them out every year. Is this the case. As I have never had doc check balls apart from when at time in teenage years when they thought I had an adnormal testical. If you found somthing out of the normal how soon would you be off to the doctors to get it checked out? Would you be embrassed by this happening? I know I would be - but I guess it has to be done if something strange appeared.Has anyone been to doc to have somthing checked out that you thought was out of the normal - and if so what if anyhting was the cause.

In reply to: I have heard that you should do a self exam every month and have a doc check them out every year. Is this the case. Yep, you got it right! Testicular cancer is most common in guys from puberty through their 20's, and is the #1 cancer type in guys that age. So, that's why its important to check 'em at least monthly in the shower, and annually by your doc. In reply to: If you found somthing out of the normal how soon would you be off to the doctors to get it checked out?If I found a lump on either one of my testicles, I would be seeing the doctor by the next day. Testicular cancer is not something you want to be messing around with and waiting for. The sooner you catch it, the better your chances of a successful treatment and survival. And yes, testicular cancer can kill you if you ignore it. In reply to: Would you be embrassed by this happening? No, because I've gotten over that. I've had my testicles examined (and my left one operated on for a varicocele) by several doctors. You get used to it, and after a while you won't think anything of it.I can understand why some guys would be embarassed, but you really need to analyze your fears and why you are embarassed. Think about, your doctor has the same equipment you do (if it is a guy doc, obviously). And whatever your issue is with your penis or balls, its nothing that your doctor hasn't seen before. Every guy has a penis and testicles - its nothing to be ashamed or embarassed about. And if you're embarassed about what you do with your equipment in your private time (i.e. masturbating), you shouldn't be embarassed about that either: virtually every guy masturbates, including your doctor! And finally, your doctor isn't going to make fun of your equipment and embarass you, he's got the same stuff, he's a trained professional, and he's there to help. Your doctor will look at your penis and testicles not in a sexual way, but as just another part of your anatomy like a foot or an arm, because that's all they are: parts of the male anatomy. So don't be embarassed!
