I think the doctor got Abraham mixed up with Jesus.Unless there is a serious issue, the urologist shouldn't recommend circumcision. You will probably have to stretch for over a month, but most people think it's worth it.

Approaching urologist appointment

How about cancelling the appointment with the urologist and working on stretching? It will take some time but will be worth the effort to preserve what nature gave you to enjoy.I don't know in which country you live (suspect the UK as youo use the term A&E) but, if you are in the USA, you will have to be aware of the tendency of many doctors to recommend circumcision as a matter of course. They are so used to circumcising boys here, that very few understand the benefits of being intact. So keep on stretching!

Thanks a bunch for the replies, they've really helped me put my mind at ease. @sdp - i've a month until my appointment.@ steveA - I don't think it was the doctor who mixed up jebus for abraham ...oops curses atheism@alan - i used A&E so you'd know i wasn't american because i know things are different over there! I'll still keep the appointment, just for the advice if nothing more. I know it isn't the be all and end all but I want that piece of me attached! I've been reading the posts on the boards for ages now and i must say you active guys do a great job. Thanks

Even though you have a month until your appointment, you should start a stretching regimen right now. There are penty of posts on the subject here. Just don't overdo it. Take it slow and easy. You don't want to create micro- tears and cause scarring.

I agree, circumcision should be your last resort. You do have options that you should try first:- the ointment- Stretching exercises- Dorsal slitA dorsal slit is a small incision made in the frenar band or ring at the tip of the foreskin that is usually the most restrictive part of the foreskin. It forced the frenar band to open more, and often is good enough to get the foreskin to slide back with ease. You should ask your urologist about that option before proceeding to circumcision, but that's if the first two options don't work for you.

Thanks a lot Focus, I remember the doctor mentioned some sort of slitting being a possibility. Well i'll be more informed when i go in to the doctor and hopefully with my careful stretching regime I'll only need the other options as a last resort. Thanks guys.

Well i had the appointment to day and surprise surprise i'm getting circumcised!! The Doc said it was quite bad phimosis and stretching wouldn't really work...As an aside could the amount of smegma affect how far the forskin can be retracted? I ask because the doc was trying to pull it back and nothing happened. Then later on in the day when i was taking part in some "relaxation", an absolute load of semi solid smegma came out...Also i found out that my dad is circ'ed too for non-religious reasons i can presume. I wonder could phimosis be hereditary...?
-
The doctor is plain wrong. My phimosis was so tight I literally couldnt get my little finger in there at all. But now I have full retracted.
-
I would think twice about getting circumcised. Once you get it retracted, however you get it (creams, etc.), you will be much happier that you didn't make the cut, er, the doctor didn't make the cut. Supposedly a lot of guys that were uncut who got cut wished that they hadn't been cut.

As was stated many times before, i would prefer my foreskin to be attached but the doc said there was a very bad case of phimosis and a circ was needed...
"Supposedly a lot of guys that were uncut who got cut wished that they hadn't been cut." well of course, but if it's a question of another year/more (fruitless) stretching (after a good few months of trying, ~1cm had been achieved), risking infection and lacking getting close to a girl without being embarrassed or getting a piece of vestigial skin chopped, I wonder which i would choose...
