A while back I posted that I had a varicocele, and my surgery is scheduled for June 1st. I just had some questions about recovery issues and such. Mainly my questions are like how long will it take before I can walk/run comfortably..play sports, drive a car, masturbate, etc.? I've never had a surgery like this, and if anyone has had this I was just wondering what your post surgery experiences were like.

Questions on testical surgery (Varicocele)

I had the surgery a few years back. You should discuss recovery time with your doctor. My doctor told me no sex or masturbation for at least a week (I gave it 2 weeks to be safe), no work or school for 2 days, no swimming or running for a month, and no heavy lifting or strenuous activity for at least 2 months.
The pain isn't bad at all - its just very sensitive and will hurt like hell if you touch your testicle or incision or bump into it for the first week or two. The reason for the limitations on running, lifting, swimming etc. is to allow the scar to heal properly so it doesn't tear open again, and to prevent a hernia. Since the testicle is delivered through the abdominal wall to work on during the surgery, the abdominal wall has a hole in it that needs to heal internally. Heavy exertion or lifting puts stress on the abdominal cavity and can push your intestines through that hole in the abdominal wall, and into your scrotum, forming a hernia.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
