My sister got her nose peirced and it bled alot. The peircer said she's got thin blood. She's right because whenever my sisters donated blood it hasnt taken long because it's pretty thin. What caulses this? Is it just a genetic thing or could it be to do with her diet?

Thin blood
-
I suppose it means a low platelet count. Platelets are things in the blood that cause clotting.
-
Well, personally I wouldn't take everything that a piercer tells you as fact but... maybe your sister has some sort of coagulation disorder. (hemophilia, etc.) It's genetic, and can't be controlled by diet. When people say they are taking "blood thinners" like, say aspirin, it's not actually thinning the blood, it just prevents clot formation. She can get shots for it, if a doctor thinks it's best. If it is a platelet count thing, people have been able to increase that with diet.
-
Lol. I don't think she has hemophilia.
I was more wondering if it could be because she eats alot of bullshit. Like, maybe it's a vitamin deficency or sumthing?
I'm kinda worried. If she was in a car crash or something she'd bleed out really fast... :scream_cat: Any way to fix it?
-
Hemophilia is just a name for multiple diseases. Not all of them are serious as poeple think. But it is the best known coagulation disease. Diet can influence thrombocyte production, but why not get a blood test done first to make sure that's really the problem?
-
Because my sister is a lazy tart and convincing her that she should investigate the thin blood thing ferther would be a pointless and painful experience for myself.
Ahh well, I was hopeing it was just a dietry deficency so I could shove a bottle of pills under her nose and explain why she needs to take them etc.

Vitamin K, found in green leafy vegetables, helps enhance coagulation. In any case, green leafy vegetables are an important part of a healthy diet.
-
Agreed. My sister however, thinks diet coke is an important part of her diet.lolThe only vege she eats is out of a freezer. She dosn't like lettuce or spinich or cabbage or anything fun.
-
Frozen veggies are fine so long as you still get variety and enough of them. What you need to do is cook her vegetarian meals for awhile so you make it an inconvenience for her not to eat vegetables
-
Lol. I'm sure she would strongly object vegatarian meals. We do make meals with lots of salad and crap but she just goes to the freezer and get out her mixed vege. And if there is none, she'll drive down to the shop to get some.I don't think she belives in variety
