there are so many it's hard to pick one. I'm looking forward to the (intellegent) debate this thread may bring.I'll just throw this one out for concideration...underground plumbing. Maybe not so much an invention but an inovation and development. Nothing has had a greater impact on the life expectancy of humans... ever

Oh yeah? Gatorade was invented in Florida. So was the mechanical refrigerator (1851), because warm Gatorade sucks. And the first suntan cream was invented here in Miami Beach in 1944.

We'd be very backwards without many of those inventions.Didn't realize that multiple applications and laws of fluids were originally discovered in Ireland.
