I hate seeing people hurt themselves. Well said Ineligible.

Healing scars?

I did this bizarre thing today.I have a young girl who has a history of cutting. Usually when she gets in trouble. Most times it's just scratching herself or rubbing her wrist with an eraser or something like that. So today I decided to see how much scratching it took to do damage. So I scratched on my wrist with my fingernail until it started turning red. Within two minutes after I stopped, the skin started raising and burning. SEven hours later it's still burning and it's red and there will be scabbing, if not scarring. After stopping and thinking about it, it makes me very sad that these kids would prefer that to the emotional pain they're feeling.

Um...confessionI did similar things when I was a teen.(never anything that left scars, except a tatoo that I made AND burned off myself) Physical pain, I KNEW how to deal with. The emotional stuff I had NO clue how to deal with. When it hurt, physically, I could focus on THAT, not the emotional stuff.I REALLY REALLY wish kids would turn to school counselors, or other stuff. I am ok now, but it took a lot of understanding myself, and creating my OWN "family" if you will.If I were to do today, what you did, I would be a whiney baby..lol Maybe, sometime, I will be able to talk about my experience a bit more clearly. For now, it is a shameful thing for me. And, there are times, I still "hurt myself" because I "have to". Like, the work I do(construction), HURTS me SO BAD! But I get all stubborn and rationalize it...

Over the counter things, like the ones you see annoying commercials for. They won't go away completely, but they'll fade enough.

Er...Did you intend that for the original poster?

That might be true for some kids. But for many, there is extreme pain and frustration and depression and anger, which are precursors to self-mutilating.

You hit the nail for what I was going through...Like I said, I knew how to deal with physical pain, but could not deal with the emotional stuff that was happening then.

As said in the other thread, but I shall also post some here incase it might help, yeah, this is a good idea. My best friend commit suicide, he was everything to me, I didn't care about anyone but about him and me, if I never got to met anyone else, that would be fine, since he was everything I needed. Till he left me an sms saying "goodbye,
