Yes, a lot of people from the north did not treat the southerners very well when they went into the south. but, would you rather have had the north just stay out of the southerner's buisness let slavery continue?

this is a little off topic, but still on the general topic, red states and blue states. I just found this out.did you know that most people in the United States are democrats? (probably would be a surprise to people overseas). but, republicans make up for that because republicans are more likely to show up at the polls than democrats.

Yes, I knew that most people in this country are moderate to liberal. And yes, people who tend to vote Democratic (young people, etc.) tend to vote less.

A lot of Southerners felt that Northerners were just out to ruin the "southern way of life (oppression of slaves and the continuation of paternalistic governments). Hence, they called the call to end slavery and "life" in the South as Northern agression.

Well they were, but it wasn't a bad thing. Its like saying that the American War for Independence was the colonies trying to ruin the British way of life.

No, it wasn't a bad thing. But to some Southerners, they still resent Northerners. I guess that kind of sentiment was passed down from generation to generation.
