Like I had a choice...I can imagine what it is like out there! The wind would be worse, coming out of Nevada. We had that mess about 10 yrs ago. But here, we deal with flooding as opposed to snow. Again THANK GOD, no snow for me!I'm a bit more south in the valley now, so I don't deal with it getting as cold anymore, but even Redding doesn't get as cold as you!!!My mom inlaw wants to come back to ya. I think she is friggin nuts, but as she puts it, you can move snow, you can't move water.

sounds pretty bad where both of you are, but like bhendrix said, it's good that you managed to be optimistic about it, Pepsi. and, Grvtykllr, that was nice of you to help people with the trees, and all. sounds about like what it was here during the hurricanes. hurricanes are pretty much the reason I would never live on the coasts of florida.

I hope you are all going to be ok. Ill keep you all in my prayers

I have lived in many states this side of the rockies, I have visited every one of them. I really like where I am. I loved a few other places, but they always had SOMETHING I didn't like.Silverton Colorado is gorgeous, but I couldn't deal with the amount of snow, and the economy there is iffy. I liked Mountain Green Utah, but snow again (Chance would know NOTHING of that..lol) NM has tornados and Texas, I dunno, I just didn't like it. Oregon either too dry and cold or raining all the time, Washington, same smell...Idaho, I was too small when we lived there, but I DO remember the snow, because that is where I developed my fear of heights....AZ and Nevada..damned desert..blech.As far as the weather....anyone watched Alice in wonderland? That scene, singing "and I never ever ever did a thing about the weather cause the weather never ever did a thing for me".....I have adopted that line, because no matter where you are, there is SOMETHING. Cold, wet, wind, shakey ground, volcanoes, blizzards, ice storms...what ever.

Just for you Pepsi, because I have to much time on my hands:"Oh, the sailor’s life is the life for me, how I love to sail on the bounding sea, and I never never ever do a thing about the weather for the weather never ever does a thing for me. Oh, a sailor’s life is a life for me, tiddle um dum pom pom dum de dee! And I never ne... ahoy! And other nautical expressions! Land ho, by Jove!"

That was a most beautiful rendition....LMAO!
'Tis my favorite cartoon. -
you can move snow and I have moved it, tons of the shit!know what pisses me off?Iv busted my ass shoveling, plowing and blowing it all over the fucking place andhave not even had time to take in a cross country ski trip[ into the mountains alone for a couple of days let alone a trip to some of my favorite ski resorts around the valley, resorts mind you with nearly 90" for a base plus fresh snow on top of it all! Its fucked up pepsi, UTah gives cali water and you give us wind and more wind!Holy dog shit. since november Iv shoveld over 3 feet of snow from ym place and my moms. My house isnt so bad, but my moms is 100 feet long for a driveway thast 16 feet wide, plus the sidewalks, plus a back porch and a walk way to teh two sheds and the 2 decks. Fucking dog shit its takes me a day to do with a shovel and still about 4 hours with the snow blower.I jsut bought a bigger blower though, instead of 21" clearance I now have 24 inches, and instead of 1 speed and rubber paddles I now have 4 speeds with 3 times the HP and nice metal fuck you Ill rip your icey ass apart blades still alot that has to be shoveld isnetad of blown. My inalws have a mountain cabin they live in full year round. Saturday alone they had plowed over 16" from a single storm, add to that the ones before it and they are out of room for storing snow!its down to teh road to enter the property and enough parking for 1 car and the two 4 wheelers whith the plows on them, the plow truck is dead and now burried in snow. I need to make a trip south and see what I can do to take care of them and move some snow by hand back into teh trees to clear out the yard again for them. its to the point they cant even clear off either of the decks , just a pathway acrost them to the doors to the cabin.I fucking hate winter, but still ski cross country and down hill when I have the time and even try to take a winter backpacking trip on cross country skis for atlest a weekend when I can. there is nothign like a night in a tent in 5 foot deep snow and air temps up ther drop to well below zero. In town here its been single digits at night for far to long and we have been lucky to see 28 degrees F during the day.Tell your mom in law if she likes snow Ill ship her some of the shit it may be water when it gets tehre but it will be snow when I pack it into a styrofoam cooler. If I knew where the cord was for my digi camera Id go for a drive and take some picsaround here, carparts blown over and down and cars smashed, trees all over the place, power restored to the rest of the town jsut last ngiht that had been out since friday evening. Go much further than my inlaws heading south and you get back into rain instead of snow, floods every place, and thsoe same winds that beat us nearly to death.glad the winds are over. FUck I been so busy I havent even had time to head up to take the kids sledding this year.Big cotton wood canyon hs and ass kcikcing place about a mile below the ski resorts, all cleared hills with rarely a tree and flat long before you hit teh river so plenty of time to stop and about 700 feet of sled room. maybe this coming weekend I can break away and steal up there with the kids.

It wasnt me being nice to help them, it was self preservation.1 couple are the same age as my mom and have known me since my conception let alone my birth. He has heart problems and a tree on the house ? someone had to do something. I helped their kids (about my age) and added an extra chain saw to the mix and an extra truck to get shit done. when ya know someone 36 years, ya gotta help when they need it. the people right around my moms well one is a retired sherrif who saved my ass many times when he should of run me in and locked me up. The people to teh north side, eh, they bailed my ass out last summer when I cut down a huge tree in my moms yard and he came in a back hoe to dig up the roots for me when he saw me with a shovel and axe working my way around a 6 foot diameter trunk.Normally Id work down, cut the roots out that spread out, pull it with teh truck then cut off hte bottom root that heads down and add a bag of charcoal and burn the remnants away before filling it in with top soil, thansk to him I spent about 20 minutes on a shovel before he pulled it and even ran me some top soil in his dump truck, saved me fucking days of work, I owed him. Hes also in his early 80s, he never could of done it and his sonwhilein his 20s and strong would of taken days to get it done. With two more storms on the ass of that wind, days were not an option.I didnt do any of it to be nice, I did it to repay debts, noone should ever confuse me for a nice person, Im not. I do not like debts however, I always pay back anything I owe, all I did was try to settle debts old and new with a few people that had saved my ass in the past. I would not do the same for someone I didnt know or owe, unless cash was involved, then depending on what they were willing to pay, Id consider it.
