I personally take Midol. Works wonders for me.As for natural remedies, I have no clue.

thanks. she says she's going on birth control to help it in a while. just wondering if there was any other way to help, i didnt think there would be.

Ugh, without birth control, I'd be popping Midol pills like there's no freakin' tomorrow, lol.

Over-the-counter analgesics help. Going on oral contraceptives can make a huge difference - my wife first went on them for that reason and found complete relief. There is an overview discussion of other treatments here.

Oh, sadness... I take Midol and Yaz like crazy and I still end up crying every month... D: I get freaking horrible cramps. Anyway, heat might help your gf. I used to use heating pads but they stopped working for me, but ask her if she wants one. Or she could take a bath! A hot bath!! Personally, I wouldn't ever want to take a bath while I'm bleeding. *Shudder* But to each her own!

Hmm...been there and I definately feel for your gf. Horrible craps are no laughing matter. For me, I've found that exercising regularly has cut down on a lot of the cramps that I used to get. It doesn't work automatically, so don't expect that the moment that she exercises the pain and discomfort that she feels will fade away into blissfull nothingness. If it happened that fast there'd be no use for Midol But all kidding aside, if she'd like to try it she should start a light exercise regime a few weeks before her period and by the time it comes around, she won't be in too much agony. If there is no change, then perhaps she should check in with her Gyno to make sure that everything is fine and perhaps get a prescription for birth control (like Yaz) because some prescriptions can really cut down on the monthly agony.Hope that helps.
