Do any of you San Diego people have a recommendation for a place to spend a couple of nights. And, how far is Ocean side from the San Diego airport?Or maybe more importantly areas to avoid. It's just business travel, not fun. Mom is going to meetings out there next month and wants me book her a room.

foggy memory isn't SDP from SD?

Oceanside is about 30 miles from the Airport.. Oceanside is a Marine town with gang areas and I don't know where the hotels are in town. There are better choices.Where are her meetings going to be? What price range are you seeking? If she needs to drive at rush hour , it is pretty bad in many areas. Give me some more info.

Catamaran Hotel, Corporate Marriott, Hyatt. Is that what you're looking for?Stay downtown, uptown, or all around. You can't go bad with SD no matter where you stay.

Okay, I think her meeting is Oceanside or it may be Carlsbad. I can't remember right now. They wanna stay in San Diego. It's gonna be a couple of old people and their attorney so it sounds like the gaslight district, what ever that is, is out. I don't know but from what I read that sounds like more action than they would want. They are going to have half a day to kill after their meeting so I thought I would put 'em close to museums or the water or something so they have more to do than just sit in their room until they have to catch their flight the next day. Price range isn't really an issue, not five star but three or better. More than anything some place safe that they at least have something to do or look at after their meeting, shit fairly close by in other words. I was looking at the La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla but they don't seem to have rooms that have two beds in them and her and her friend are going to be sharing a room.I'll have to get back to you on some more details. I'll get them from her again when she gets back tonight.@ Sexspet, thanks, I'll put that on my short list and have look at it.

Well stay out of Oceanside.. Carlsbad is next door and is nice and has good hotels (Four Seasons Aviara?)http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=hotels+carlsbad+ca&aq=1&oq=hotels+carlsLa Jolla is truely beautiful.. There are hotels(Marriot?) at La Jolla Village drive and I-5 which is not in town but very close drive.Downtown is always nice.. The Gaslamp district is busy but has many nice restaurants and is just lively.. Seaport village is near and has many big name hotel on the waterfront.
