Yeah, it was kinda fun... But omg, NO stores are open yet, well, I take that back, a couple are, but most aren't... I went to target yesterday to try to buy a phone charger(car charger for all Nokia models) and I was 5 dollars short, I lent money to my brother 2 days previous... And... I was pissed, because I don't have half my numbers, and I would like to be bored no longer. Basically, I walked up there, called mother to come get me, she wouldn't I walk home, 1 hour 30 minute walk... Especially with all the craziness on the roads, because street lights are out, still, I go back up to Target with my step dad 15 minutes after I get home and Target is CLOSED, I was like... 'Wtf?'

Hurricane Ike
-
I have not been watching the news, even though i prolly should be... I do know however that my neighbors were being stupid during the storm... Me and my brother kept hearing laughing coming from outside, it was them outside in their yard running around in circles. Stupid..

Pretty darned windy around these parts. Louisville has had wind gusts today up to 75-80 mph. 60% of the city is without power and folks are being told to be prepared to be without power for a week or more. Can't you guys keep your damned hurricanes down there where they belong?!?
-
Sorry Damien... I'll try to keep it contained and live with the carnage...
We were without power for like, 20 hours, they SAID we would have none for like, a week, so, yeah... -
It's good to know that you're fine. Living in florida, I definitely know where you're coming from with this situation.
we actually had part of a tree fall on the back room of our house. but we only had minor roof damage, which was astounding.

I really hope their okay... I'm glad you're okay and all is well. Call and check on the kids and see how they're doing

hey, no problemo. it's pretty good.

Well Ike was one hell of a storm, even came up and hit Ohio pretty hard. I lost my power last night around 7:30pm and it's still not back on, power lines down everywhere around my house. The electric pole infront of Adam's parents house snapped in half, so they'll be without electric for awhile. I even had large pieces of my neighbors roofs in my backyard this morning lol. But luckily, from what I can see my house itself weathered the storm, just doesn't seem like my neighbors were quite as lucky. The nice elderly couple across the street lost about all their siding from the one side of their house. Though we were hit "hard" I know it's nothing compared to what others went through and glad to hear those who live closer to the major hit are doing okay.

We were supposed to get tons of rain and wind but we're far enough north-west that we only got a light rain, mostly drizzle, some cool breezes and huge ass rainbows. It was great for sleeping away an entire Saturday.

Thus, the world market is effected. The blip your seeing, I would imagine, has more to do with loss of the refining capacity and less to do with any great increase in the price of oil. Until the southern refiners are running again buyers are heading to your area and buying gas from northern refiners. So, your local gas supplier is having to bid against bidders from Eddie and Lish's area, who generally tank gas from Jersey and the gulf. The end result is you end up paying more.

Well my electric could be out all week.. grr. I just read an article from my electric carrier and 48% of my counties electric is out and they are estimating it will take a week to get everyone back up. Looks like I might be staying at my sister's or Mother's house

They said our power wouldn't be on for like, 2 weeks, but mine cam back on late the next day after the storm. So- You know, if we could get power on that fast when we were hit like we were, dun you think your guys should be faster?
-
Lol you'd think so right? Well driving home on lunch I went the main route to my house and I seen why my power is out, a huge tree snapped in half and pulled the powerlines down with it, this is right down the street from my house. They don't even have the tree removed yet, just yellow police tape blocking it off. So not holding my breath of having power today.Though I am not trying to bitch too much, I know it's nothing compaired to what other people are going through.

I think when they say 2 weeks, they mean that's how long they are projecting it will take to restore power to everyone. Obviously not everyone will take 2 weeks. The first ones restored will naturally be within a day or two. You're just one of the lucky ones.

If it's just that one spot that has a major problem and it serves several customer areas they should have it fixed fairly fast. They go by what is quickest to fix that serves the most people. At least I assume that's how they do it there, that's how they do it here when ice storms come through. Are you really gonna go off and leave all your shit unguarded with ne'er-do-wells, thieves and boogie men knowing that all the alarms are not working in that area and a lot of folks are gone with nobody watching their shit? To be on the safe side you better take the important shit with you that you wouldn't want to lose.Disconnect your electrical shit that could get fried when your power pops back on.
