I'm 17 and I'm scared to death that I have a brain tumor. First of all, ive noticed my eyes have been more sensative to light over the past year, I'm supposed to wear my glasses, but I dont since I can see fine without them but things are just a Tad blurry(not sure if that could be a contrubuted to symtoms rather than a tumor). Also last year when I went to see my doctor about occasional ringing in my ears, he couldnt seem to find and infection, but he gave me a hearing test and told me I had a disturbing hearing pattern. We really just left it at that. Now recently(about a month ago) my doc put me on dyclomine for abdominal pains, yea he seemd to help. Then just last week there was a 3day weekend for school so I go up to my friends(in michigan) for the weekend. On day 2 of 3(saturday) at like 10pm(i havent had my dicylomine since thursday morning since we left and I didnt bring any) I just get this pretty awful/funky smell in my nose, never ends up disapating till (well I feel asleep sunday still with the sensation) woke up monday and it was gone. Everysince then Ive been getting the occasional slight wiff of this phantom smell, somtimes it makes me feel sick to my stomach. I get occasional headaches nowadays they seem to be caused by the sensativity to light. Also somtimes I notice an off taste in my mouth(never noticed this until I read it was a symptom, but Ive always noticed a bad taste in my mouth after brushing my teeth). Somtimes in school I will go from moments of awakeness to feeling pretty tired all the sudden, and I rarely (but often enough to scare me) write down things I dont want to, like 5 instead of 3. Now I have a doctors appointment in like a week but im very hypochondriacal and like to think of other things that It could be, right now all thats running thru my mind is im going to die because I have a brain tumor.

Brain tumor

People with brain tumours usually get terrible headaches, which you haven't got (yet). It's more likely most of these symptoms are connected with your hypochondria, and are brought on by anxiety.
Ringing in the ears is often mysterious, because usually it's not possible to see a cause.

Thats what I keep trying to tell myself, but I have a very hard time beleiving this smelling distortion or whatever you may call it is actually all in my head.
-
You seem to post constantly about some cancer you think you have every month. Give it rest please. Wear your glasses. That can cause a lot of problems with headaches. You've obviously been prescribed them for a reason.
-
They are only supposed to be worn during night driving and when Im in the back of class. But who knows maybe my eyes have changed. Can that be the cause anyways? of all this
-
It sounds like you're a bit short-sighted. Glasses can cause mild headaches until you get used to them.
-
Definatly, I can agree on that. What about the smell??, very weird and bothersome. The headaches/ears ringing didnt even bother me. Till i put them all together, we just finished learning about brain stuff in psychology so now I can stop thinking that I have a large tumor growing over my sensory strip.
-
I don't know about the smell. I do know that after I've smelt something unusual that might be bad (like gas), I often keep feeling later I'm smelling a trace of it when there isn't any.
-
Well I dont think that could be it, the smell was in my nose for about 24 hours, and I still get an occasional wiff here and there and its a almost week later.

you don't have a brain tumor
