wow - really glad to read what happened. i know it took a lot of guts for you. and the outcome, i think, is the start of the road to repair. for yourself and your relationship with your dad.

please keep in mind that if you go to a counselor or psychiatrist for awhile and really don't like them, try another. i have been through counseling. my first one was lousy and really didn't help at all. i found another who was great.
also, if they want to put you on antidepressants, don't let them give you paxil. i was on that for awhile and yes, it helped a lot but it was really, reallly hard to get off. it messes up your brain chemistry and when you try to stop your head and body buzzes, gets these electric "jolts" and feels VERY bizarre. i tapered off over a period of 3 months, and i wasn't even on a high dose.

i think prozac is the only antidepressent actually approved for use in younger people, although doctors can prescribe any one they want.
