Ok, my first topic was not a hit. Only 3 ppl responded. I'll make this short and concise and please help.Got hit in groin area/testicles last tuesday - as in it has been 7+ days.Since then, my testicles have irritated me/hurt in some way shape or form. What do you think is wrong, what can I do?I both got the answers of "see a doctor" and "it is probably nothing"If it is probably nothing, why does it hurt? What exactly would a doctor do to examine them?Just poke around? Can't I do this myself and somehow diagnose myself and solve the problem?I told my parents about it, they seem to think it would also "not be a problem" - was going to go to doctor on monday, but did not due to snow. don't know if i will.how do i know if it is something or not? is there anything i can do?

Testicles hurt 7+ days after being hit. take2

Hey bud, I'd think this is probably just bruising and soreness from the hit. Guys get hit there all the time and it takes a while for things to return to normal. All a doc would do is look at them, check for any swelling or obvious bruising and that's about it. Take a good look around, notice any swelling or discoloration? How about bumps or things that are different than before. If you notice nothing, then you're probably ok and unless this gones on and on, I don't know if I'd worry too much. Also, if you're masturbating or doing some sexual things frequently, then maybe that is affecting the healing that needs to take place??? Not sure, just wanting to help you think through things. Often, frequent sexual stuff can cause some soreness there as well. Hope this helps, hang in there. Let us know how you're doing.

just go see a doctor...it could be a testicular torsion and if it is then u need to surgically remove that testicle before the other one gets messed up as well. hopefully its not that but just go make sure
-
If you have torsion, you do not remove the testicle. It is untwisted and something is done(surgically) to keep it untwisted.

Confronted my parents again (only 16, will be 17 in about a month, but need to be 18 to go to doctor alone)They still think that it is nothing. Surprised that it still hurts/is bothering me about a week later.Response from my mom: "give it another week. when i hurt my back shoveling, sometimes it takes a month to heal"right, cuz a testicle injury is the same thing.Don't know when I can see a doctor, so that stinks. Just a little bit of minor swelling I think. Maybe slightly red on the bottom? Just not a fun feeling, and I'm not getting normal erections.I guess I'll keep you updated. What the heck is a testicle torsion?
-
no actually if u do have a torsion and u do not do something about it surgically within 7 hours then the testicle will be lost because thats too much time for no blood flow going to it and its dead basically
-
Yeah, testicular torsion is no joke. It's when the testicle gets turned around and the spermatic cord gets twisted or kinked, which blocks the blood from flowing in and out of the testicle. The pain from testicular torsion is very severe and even causes vomiting. You would never mistake it for something else. Since the testicle isn't getting blood flow, the testicle will die in a matter of several hours, which is why if you have torsion, you need to get to the hospital ASAP in order to save the testicle. Torsion that goes too long results in severe permanent damage to the testicle, sometimes requiring it to be removed.
Don't worry - based on what you described, you don't have testicular torsion. You would be in so much pain you wouldn't be able to type here if you did!
-
Sure if the testicle is damaged, then it is removed. Your statement that if you have torsion, the testicle is removed made it sound as if the testicle is removed no matter what. I guess we should both provide more detail with out statements.
-
yea we were both unclear with our statements.. but i was just talkin from personal experience because i had a testicular torsion over the summer and it was the worst pain you can ever imagine. it felt like someone kept constantly kickin me in my balls and yes i did even vomit quite a few times actually. i wish that upon no body because trust me it sucks.

"is there anyway to help" hmmm....let me see, thinking - obnoxious answer, or speaking to a child answer? hmmmm....i think i will go with obnoxious answer. The way to tell is to GET A DOCTOR TO LOOK AT YOU. we cannot see you, despite popular belief, we are not licensed physicians, nor do we have all the answers, you should have understood that when you only recieved 3 responses before, one being GO TO THE DOCTOR. so, how bout we head on over to the MD and let him have a gander. if you do it soon, you may be fine IF in fact it is something bad. otherwise, you will find out it's nothing and go about your merry way skipping up and down the street. thank you and have a good night!the mighty last strikes again!
