RIP da pope
-
how old is he?
-
84
-
Ya, hes like going to die.
-
Well the bronze doors were shut,(before 8pm) and the bells are tolling, which signifies that the pontiff has probably died.
-
I heard that the final straw was that he broke his leg yesterday. He fell out of a tree, apperently he got confused and thought he was still a cardinal
-
What a great guy he was!
-
I don't think he liked decadent materialism or day traders.
-
What are you getting at? I honestly think he was a great man. I also think that he has set the bar high for the next Pope!
-
He had a lot of negative things to say about communism, and he had a lot of negative things to say about the excesses of capitalism, as well as carnal pleasures (i.e., screwing your girlfriend's brains out). He had a lot to say about social justice, and he had a lot to say about keeping Catholic doctrine as conservative as possible. What attributes of the Pope do you find to be "great"?
-
What made him great was all of the things he did for others.
-
Like what?
-
Indeed, what did he do?
-
He work hard to create peace and spred faith aroubnd the world.
-
I never heard him...maybe im just oblivious
-
I'm not sure about the goodness of spreading faith (actually, mainly converting people), but he did try to bring Catholics and Jews together, and he blasted the U.S. for invading Iraq. He also thought the U.S. was a horribly decadent place that lost its way. Divorce. Abortion. Focus on material things and money. All bad, to him.If the Pope was a great man, should we try to be great men?
-
Should we be trying to be great anyway, regardless of the pope..?
-
I dn't understand why the Vatican is so adimantly against "meterialism." Seems pretty hipocritical. As for me "Banging my gfs brains out" I am not catholic nor religous.
-
But those are the kinds of things that were central to the Pope's philosophy, and drove him to do the good works that he did.The Pope was Christian, and Christ was totally negative on materialism. He said to give your stuff away and serve the poor. He said that it would be pretty difficult for a rich guy to get into heaven. You could argue that the Catholic church is a wealthy institution, but that's another story.
-
It is. Imagine how rich you would be if you demanded 10% of the yearly income of 1.3billion people.
