It in part depends on the beer. If I drank six cans of Guinness, I would probably be a little trashed. A six pack of Natty Light though won't do too much. And nowadays planes fly themselves for you, as long as the pilot wasn't drunk during take off or landing, I wouldn't care that he took a couple shots somewhere over the Pacific or wherever.

Am I addicted to alcohol??

Drunks always walk out aliveWhat? The driver has as much of a chance as dying as the person they hit. Most of the time though the drunk driver is the only victim after hitting a tree or telephone pole.

nowadays planes fly themselves for youUnless something goes wrong. And the plane might be a Piper Cherokee rather than a 777.So you wouldn't want a pilot who's just downed a six of Bud to take off or land the plane that you're on? We seem to be making some progress.

That really upset me what you said. Maybe if someone in your family died because of drunk driving then you'd be a little more sensitive on the subject!
In reply to:
But the current DUI laws make it so that having 2 beers is over the limit.
For SOME people 2 beers is over the limit!

And it works fine in Canada where the drinking age is as low as 18 still in some provinces. They haven't changed it to 21.
Only in Manitoba, Alberta and Quebec

No, ok a pilot shouldn't drink. No one should drive drunk. But the laws say that you're drunk when you can still manage yourself.

Piloting a plane is a lot different than driving a car. You should ask "Do you trust a friend driving you somewhere after they have downed a 6-pack?" My answer is yes. I guess where I live is different, I don't live in a giant city. The city I live in has about 115,000 people, there is a good amount of traffic, but not really at 2 am when most of the drunk driving would be going on.

It prevents things from happening. stop thinking like a young kid that only wants to drink.
-
Don't you have ride programs?? Man before I HATED those things.. after reading all this im glad they're around!!

Dude, you are so incredibly wrong I don't know where to begin. If you're not concerned about driving with someone who has just downed a six pack, you have a death wish. I'm sorry, that's just youthful ignorance. You are the reason that the drinking age is 21 in this country.
How is driving a car different from flying an airplane? You can kill more people by crossing the center line of a busy highway than by flying a small plane into the ground. At least while your in the air, there aren't as many things to hit as there are when you're driving.
There have been so many cases of cars full of teens, driven by someone who has been drinking, where the car runs into a tree or other stationary object. Are you saying that in your town of 115,000, there's never any oncoming traffic at 2 AM?
If you don't think that drinking a 6 pack over the course of a couple of hours will raise your blood alcohol level enough to impair you, then you don't know anything about physiology. You don't have to be falling-down drunk to be impaired. If your timing and reflexes are off a bit, then you might get into or cause an accident that you would have otherwise avoided.
I'll tell you this: if you (or anyone else) causes damage to someone I care about while you're driving drunk, I will hunt you down. If I were you, I'd spend more time addressing my binge drinking issue than trying to rationalize and justify it (and its consequences, like driving drunk).

Well as an update to my "binge drinking," I'm thinking it was just drinking out of boredom. I just started a new job and have hardly even thought about drinking, although I DID drink last weekend. Except last weekend I only got a 6-pack and drank that, then went to a night spot. You're right though SteveA, 6 beers downed within an hour like I did will mess you up pretty good. I'm 180 lbs and it did a lot more than I expected. I wouldn't even consider driving when I was like that. Anyways I have drank only one night out of the past 18 days, and that night I figured eh why not, i'm not driving. Beforehand I was drinking alone a lot, and drinking on pretty much a daily basis. I know you're gonna say this is bad, but I think I'm just gonna stick to a 6-pack every weekend or every other weekend from now on.

i get the beer shits that start after like 5 or 6 beers and the next day i have to take a major shit
