Google got in loads of shit with the UN (I think) over the whole Tiananmen square thing. Google showed the Chinese government how to block out all images of the guy standing in front of the tank and all the other protest images from anyone who search for them within China. If you search for "Tiananmen square" in google, it'll come up with hundreds of images of the student standing in front of the tank. If someone in China searches for "Tiananmen square", they'll only get official images and tourist pictures.

How Ironic. I don't EVER recall readng in the bible where it says that creatures can't change in order to survive.Know what my biggest problem with evolutionist is?Science is not repeat NOT suppose to be set in stone. Please. Say there is "no proof" all you want. The simple fact of the matter is people get so set in their ways it becomes easy to to disgaurd any actual evidence. Are christians just as guilty? yes. No denying that what so ever. However, the simple fact is anything you point at christians there is an athiest out there who is the excate same.Like it or not evolutionist are the excate same as christians. You spoke about how children being raised from birth to believe "facts" about religion which aren't facts..Well I am sorry to break this to you but, there isn't a human being out there who ISN'T capable of deludeing themself. ANYONE is capable of using "logic" to see whatever they want. The problem with that? when you use logic in excess like that to see what you want. you get to a point where you simply can't look away. You believe its right no matter what. Its called obsession. That being said. Religion has never been pushed on me. My grand parents took me to church maybe 3 times when I was younger and I never payed attention in church i might as well have been on the moon. I hated how in 8th grade girls tried to push christianity on me.It wasn't till a year later I decided what I believe.Ya know. If the truth be told I've actually been exposed to the athiest side of things more then anything else. Its amazing on the internet how much evolution is pushed. I am still a christian.I have a friend who believes in evolution. Its kinda ironic that even SHE can admit there are as many holes in the evolution theory as there are in the idea of intelligent design.Oh also someone else pointed out "many people believe in evolution simply because they want a faith that allows them to do what they want". You know. I do acknowledge alot of people seriously believe in evolution because, thats what they honestly believe. However, I saw this comment sorta laughed at. I have to tell you as a 19 year old who knows quite a few athiest. You migth be surprised how many people are athiest simply because they want to be able to do what they want without fear ofconsequences. I actually worked with a guy who was just like that..Science has still not proven where life comes from.I accept that evolution is proven.I don't accept that evolution is the answer to life itself. We adapt and evolve on a daily basis. No denying that. However, Need I remind you that science itself states "It takes life to make life". Spontaneous generation has been disproven.Rocks will not become flies and until science accounts for how life came into exsistence missing links are useless even if found.Christians and athiest are the excate same. they can both turn a blind eye to evidence and logic.

I hope that your entire post was not aimed at me, cause there are some serious problems if it is!

I have never once said that science is fact, quite the opposite! Science is entirely based on theories, theories generated and sometimes falsified by observation and experimentation. Thats the difference between science and religion, science admits when its wrong! It loves to be wrong! Every time a theory is disproved, we get one step closer to the truth.

Well I am sorry to break this to you but, there isn't a human being out there who ISN'T capable of deludeing themself. That is true, there isn't a human out there who isn't capable of deluding themselves. But this isn't self delusion, this is stuff being put into the minds of children by their parents and by people of authority, stuff that has no evidence at all! Our minds are protected by whats known as the Critical Factor. This stops and evaluates everything that we take in, whether we're being told something or read it or whatever. This stops us from being fooled and tricked. The Critical Factor does not apply to parents, not at as a child. We're programmed to trust our parents completely, so we take whatever they say as fact! Why do you think we believe in Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny as children? Our parents tell us, we believe them. When we get older we start to see them as just people so their power diminishes.
The same works for authority figures, such as clergymen and police officers. This is the entire basis of how hypnotists work, the reason they are able to hypnotize people is because we believe that they have the power to do it. Their position of power allows them to bypass the Critical Factor and we are then more accepting to their suggestions.
Basically, our parents put stuff in our heads as children that can be very hard to get out. Its not impossible, but if you're not trying to get it out then it won't happen! Thats why kids are sent to church, don't let them stop and ask why they believe what they do, just make sure that they keep believing it!
Now, that is not obsession, that is child abuse.

Well, your friend is wrong there. There are actually more holes in the Evolution theory than there are in Intelligent Design. This is simply cause Intelligent Design just has one big massive hole which would normally be filled by evidence. Sadly, it has none. It isn't even a theory, it can't be. A theory can be tested and falsified. Intelligent Design can't, it relies solely on the demise of all other theories. Intelligent Design can only be proved when we have disproved every other possibility. This is why String Theory is actually considered to be a philosophy, because we currently have no way of proving or disproving it.

Of course not, that is not evolution. That is one highly complex object transforming into a completely different highly complex object. This complete misrepresentation of evolution is a stupid tactic to discredit it as a possible explanation. I'm not saying that you are trying to discredit it, maybe its actually what you believe evolution is (if so, please read up on evolution) but it is, without a doubt, an ignorant argument.

This was no aimed at anyone in particular. Just throwing in a different point of view. Quote:I have never once said that science is fact, quite the opposite! Science is entirely based on theories, theories generated and sometimes falsified by observation and experimentation. Thats the difference between science and religion, science admits when its wrong! It loves to be wrong! Every time a theory is disproved, we get one step closer to the truth.Religion can not universally admit when its wrong because, It is so diversaified. I as a christian can say "the catholic church was wrong to assisst hitler". But, much like one scientist can disagree with the rest. One person of a religion can not admit when the entire religion is wrong and have it count for anything.A nondenominatiol christian trying to admit the catholic church was wrong to assist hitler is about the same as a biologist and geologist argueing. Quote: Now, that is not obsession, that is child abuse. One word for that. Agreed. Quote:Of course not, that is not evolution. I have been told I was diagnosed retarded however, I somehow feel insulted and that you believe I'm that retarded. There is no "tactic" invovled. no misrepresentation of anything is present. The idea of evolution is that we some how "magically" got singled celled organisms which evolved into more complexed organisms. I believe one of the theories was gasses mixed together and lightening was present to allow the creation of single celled organisms.I used the term "rock" because rock is a very generic term. Anything can essentially be a "rock" any element or combination of element can be "rock" or "dirt"

Thats where I got my information

First off, one thing I'm completely fine with about joining a religion is if it's done by someone who can make a decision based on their own thoughts, not from it being forced into their minds by parents. Although, I assume that most of the people do that because they think that the guidelines to it are good ones that they would like to follow, though I may be wrong there. It just seems to me that this would be the main way that someone could decide to be a certain religion when they have the ability to make decisions for theirselves. As I recall, though, the gasses and lightning mixing is what caused us to have the atmosphere that we have.

Meh I agree actually. I believe morals should be placed in any childs head. However, I think a large number of "christian parents" just simply want to have something to hold over their childs head .. Much like the boogie man. "if you don't do this the boogie man will come and take bad children away".
-
Don't do bad things or you'll go to hell. Don't be bad or the boogie man will get you.Hmmm...Religion was useful a long time ago when it was able to allow the creations of states, but now, we don't rely on religion for the thing that holds everyone in a state together; we rely on the morals that are usually put into a child's head that doesn't delude the child but shows him or her how to live well in a large society. Religion isn't necessarily needed anymore, just good parenting.
-
Meh. I don't believe religion should be used to parent children.I believe the morals in religion should play a huge part however, in raising children.I personally think if more christians "led by example" Then maybe there would be less doubt. As to religion. I have agreed with you on several points. I agree that for society to exsist. good parenting is needed. However, I personally also feel that people should be allowed to choose what they wish to believe. You can say it isn't "needed" and I tend to agree with you. Assuming the theory of evolution is correct then religion is not nessicerly needed.I however, believe in the christian religion. I may be wrong. I may be reading a book full of crap. However, its what I choose to believe. The simple fact of the matter is that I believe you can live this life without christ however, in the next life you will pay. That is my personal believe. Call me stupid, retarded backwards, whatever. I'm not going to force it down anyones throat nor am I going to deny it.I don't believe in the church I believe in the bible my own interpretation of it. Not what some clergy wants me to believe. All I can say is read the bible and interpret it the way you want to. If you find its a load of crap. Interpret it as a load of crap. If you find there is something more to it. Then run with it.

And thats where I think Christianity makes its greatest mistake. Christianity supports loving everyone equally, we are all God's children whether we actually believe in him or not. And not everyone believes in him, and not always by choice! We'll put aside the ridiculous Christian persecutions of gays and minorities for now and go for the more simple crime.
There are people all over the world who don't believe in God simply because their parents taught them to believe in something else, just like most American parents teach their kids to believe in Christianity instead of Buddhism. And then there are the people who have never even heard of Christianity! The numbers are getting smaller, but since Christ walked this earth 2000 years ago (pfft) there have been billions of people who knew nothing about it!
And according to Christianity, they've all gone to hell through absolutely no fault of their own! These people could have lead a perfectly healthy and pleasant life, but because they were never told about God or Jesus or any of that, they have to suffer in eternal hell fire. Its the most hypocritical shite that I've ever seen, and its believed by millions of people all around the world.
-
Religion was needed in order for ancient people to go from the state or tribes to chiefdoms and states because it gave a reason why people shouldn't kill eachother when there is no blood relation between the two people. But now, we're far enough along that we don't need religion to maintain that, just good parenting. I didn't say religion should be used to parent children, I said that parents should teach their children morals, and a lot of those times those morals are based off of the religious morals.
-
I think there probably was a person named Jesus Christ, or something similar to it, that was a great political leader, but a lot of the stuff about him has been modified to make him seem greater than he was, which happens a lot with people who were great and lived a long time ago. There are many examples of this in a lot of different cultures.I'm not entirely positive, but I think those who never knew of Christianity go to something similar to limbo. Not really hell but not heaven either. They just float there... This was the case for the people before Christ and therefore never knew him, as well as the angels who didn't side with God nor Satan. But I'm not entirely sure.
-
I don't think there was a Jesus at all. There is absolutely no evidence that suggests that he existed, the first written reference to him was made about 40 years after his supposed death, and the guy who wrote never claimed that he met Jesus, he even said himself that Jesus did not exist on Earth.

Please point me to the part in the bible where it says simply because you have never herd of christ you go to hell =/One thing that annoys the piss out of me is how everything is taken out of context. The church is not the building down the road. In the original context of the bible the church is all of the followers of christ as a whole. It seems that now all anything amounts to are distortions of the original bible.*Edit. Please note that one of my biggest quirks with christians is they behave nothing like they are suppose to. No where in the bible did it ever say condemn anyone, persecute anyone. Or anything of that nature. Christians persecuting others pisses me off quite bad. The mortar of the church is in blood. Its suppose to be the blood of martyrs. People dieing without figthing back in the name of christ. Dying for what they believe in and turning the other cheek until they die. It is not suppose to be the blood of those christians run around damning and killing.

"No one comes to the Father but through Me!"
John 14:6If you don't go through Jesus, you don't go to heaven. That leaves all the poor souls who have never heard of the long haired guy who probably didn't even exists to go spend eternity in either Hell or the much more delightful Limbo!

The Bible was distorted from the moment it was created! How can we follow the true path of Christ through a book that omits so much of the Gospels?? A book with multiple translations! A book with multiple interpretations! You don't even realize how lucky you are to be able to read the Bible! In the past only priests could read it to their conjugation, so they could interpret and twist it to suit whatever they wanted! Thats the Bible being "taken out of context." Thats the church, the followers of Christ as a whole, using the Bible for their own purposes.

i believe in god and all but religion is too confusing =[

Thats because religion is the abuse of faith to gain power... most of the time.
