i use my cell as little as possable. i hate phones.
i don't know where my cell is right now anyway (reminds self to call it *thinks* i think i left it in the barn....)mine is on a very basic plan. after 7 free, free weekends, and text and that's it. i just don't use it that much.

I'm always sending text messages. I looked at my bill once and I had more than 1,200 text sent and received.

thats weak i sent 11,580 in 18 days =)

Because it's a whole lot cheaper!
A sms costs me about 85 cents, where a IM costs me less than 1 cent.
If you count it up it's much cheaper?!

A sms costs me about 85 centsWhat kinda plan are you on? A SMS shouldn't cost more than 10-20 cents each@CR: To you that may seem basic, but I have a basic phone plan (the cheapest I found): 450 anytime minutes, 5000 nights & weekends (wich start at 9pm) and ... that's it. Basic.

Okay but I live in South Africa so in your currency it will be about 9 cents, so it's basically the same! On the plan I'm on, I get a free phone and airtime valued at $20 (R135) for only $20 a month. But that's besides the point and WAY OFF topic, but I understand your...concern.Thanks

I have that, too. That is why I'm always calling and texting my bf. We both now have AT&T (Cingular).

the free after 7 does cost extraExactly, which is why it's not really a basic plan like you were saying you had. My plan is basic.
