It seems to being going through each file and pulling old e-mails to the archive I created. It's taking forever but we'll see if I did it right.

E-mail Issues, Help Please

So you went the AutoArchive route?I think that should work except you don't have control over what is moved.By creating your own "storage" folder, you can control what is moved and when..Regarding Acrobat.. Sometimes you just can't reduce the size. Are you using a scanner or creating the PDF from a file on your computer.. If using a scanner, you can reduce the resolution. If you are doing it from a file, then there might be options in the conversion process that you just have to play with.

I didn't go the auto archive route on purpose. Yes, I really am that computer illiterate. It did its thing but it didn't seem to move anything. I created my own folder but it didn't put the shit in there it put it under the archive.pst folder... it says but everything still seems to be here.
-
I'm a bit confused. If there is an "Archive" folder then, you did in fact do the "AutoArchive". It just runs in the background and takes some time.Go to Tools > Options > Other > AutoArchive and turn off (uncheck) Auto archiving.Create you own personal Storage folder as I said, then physically drag and drop your folders/emails into that "Storage" folder.
-
I'm confused too. I'll try it again. I think this is going to end up being a call for tech to come to the office and fix, cause I don't know computer shit at all.
-
Well half my shit's gone. I don't know what the fuck I did and I'm really not that worried about it.
-
I doubt it's gone...This is what your layout should look like... Storage Since it seems like the Auto Archive did run and moved old email. Click on the Archive folder and look if it's in there. Also you can click on the Deleted Items icon in your email program and then Tools > Recover Deleted Items (again you might need to click on the double-down arow to expand the whole menu.If the Archiver deleted things you might be able to recover stuff (if it was deleted).
-
Thanks, Yeah that's what it looks like but instead of saying "Storage" it says "Archive Folders" but everything is there. The e-mail still is only partly working but I think that is another separate issue that just happened to occur at the same time.
-
Just beware that AutoArchiving will move old email after a period of time.. You can set your policy as to what it does and when.. Just make sure that "Permanently delete old items" is not checked.Modify it at Tools > Options > Other > AutoArchiveSee Here
-
Okay, done, thanks. You've been a big help.

And yet another reason to hate Microsoft... Glad you got it working though, I've had similar issues with things, and it can be a HUGE pita...
-
Well my e-mails isn't working so I'm not sure what I accomplished or what I fucked up.
-
Microsoft is systematically taking down your company.Do not send error reports, do not call for assistance. That only fuels their plans.Consider yourself warned.
-
Well, I'm not sure what to tell you... What is it that's not working exactly.. are you getting that same error?
I never answered the boxed question in your first post.. That path DOES exist.. it's just hidden from you seeing it.
-
It's something different know. What you told me to do worked and my e-mail was working for a short bit. Now it says SSL isn't supported and if it worked in the past contact an administrator or your IP
-
That's an internet, or intranet, clearance, right sdp? So that would need (network) admin assistance.

I'm not sure, but maybe this could help future problems, Scott? Triage Your Email Inbox with Outlook Search Folders

Yeah, not knowing how your system is setup, it's hard to diagnose over the forum.. SSL is Secure Socket Layer, the encryption used for banking online purchses, secure email, etc...Let me ask you this... And this is usually my 1st action when something goes wrong... have you tried rebooting your computer?
-
That is fucking funny. My wife worked many places doing tech support bullshit in call centers, eventually finished school, and a a+ cert on top of her mscs and I dunno how many other certs and bullshit that she has now, but back before she was promoted up and away she did support for microsoft, dell, e machines, all sorts of computer places, even where she works now before the promotions, That is the first thing anyone tells you to do is reboot, and about 80% of the time thats all it takes to fix it. People used to get pissed at her for her telling them to reboot, "I just turned it on and its not working reboot will not fix it! stupid damn girl!" when she says reboot or hang up, we do it my way or your on your own, they reboot and for the most part it fixes itself.

I don't if it's any better today as I didn't go to work.
