Uniforms
-
I think girls should be given a choice on skirts or pants, but I would be afraid that the pants they provide would look like the pants I was provided with at work: pleated, tapered, balloony ass-tight ankle, 1980s, altogether unflattering and ugly pants. Hopefully that wont be the case. I'm meh for uniforms. It wont be a problem as to what to wear every morning, and reduce the 'care' factor when it comes to clothes, but i'll probably get a bit boring...Plus uniforms dont look the same on everyone. They could look awesome on one person, but hideous on someone else.
-
most girls do.. actually alot of schools are baning the kilts! PLUS the pants were awesome.. really comfortable.. and some girls bought the guy pants.. cause they were soooo comfy!
-
I'm for NOT having uniforms. If it were me, I'd get the band or football team or some really large group to go to school not wearing uniforms for a while. They can't suspend or punish that many people all at once. It's also cruel to make people wear something that makes them look bad. Some uniforms require the guys to tuck in their shirts. What the hell is that all about!? For us horizontally challenged people, that's abuse. And if you think about it, it's really stupid. Your shirt is in your pants. Seriously, how much sense does that make? I'll stop rambling on and on now.
-
You have a problem with shirts being tucked into pants....
-
It looks stupid, doesn't it? Not to mention not having it tucked in is much more comfortable.
-
Personal preference. But one of the main points of uniforms is to remove the importance of fashion from school, cause it really doesn't belong there.
-
And forcing people to wear clothes that could potentially cause them to be emotionally abused is?
-
clothes that could potentially cause them to be emotionally abusedAre you joking, or are you serious?Wearing "uniforms" (which can mean dressing in a uniform way, not necsssarily wearing and actual uniform) has helped in schools that have a lot of gang violence. No gang colors means more peace and less violence.
-
Ugh I don't like uniforms I had to wear them once in elementary school for a few months (switched schools, due to other reasons). I guess I don't like how they don't let you have idividuality, not to mention that I really don't like people telling me what to wear. I can't say I am a fan of the "styles" that are out right now (the less you where, the better :frowning: . ) But I wouldn't want people not to be able to choose their own fashion. If they want to wear less and less that's their choice.
-
It depends on the school. My school doesn't have gangs, so that's the type of school I'm talking about. Anyways, fat people and other people with physical "abnormalities" or people who just look really bad in uniforms won't be able to wear clothes that help them hide it or look better. This can cause them to be made fun of more by other kids. Believe me, being called fat or ugly hurts a lot. When it comes to gang schools, then I guess uniforms would be good. It really just depends on the school and the area. But in places that don't have gangs, it does take away individuality.
-
people shouldnt have to prove themselves by what they wear
-
but people can express themselves through what they wear
-
they shouldnt have to
-
you dont have to do anything, but some people want to
-
Do they need to express themselves during the hours they spend in school, though? Can't they express themselves at other times? What about people who can't afford to express themselves very well?
Hopefully, the priority in school is to learn stuff.
-
completely agree, thats why i think uniforms are a good ideayou dont need money to necesarily 'express' yourself, i dont have that much money to spend on clothes yet im still interested in fashion etc i guess if your talking about head to toe designer, then yes that would be expensive, yet another advanatge of school uniform i guess.
-
No matter what you do to get it, there are always people who aren't going to care about school regardless of what everyone's wearing.
-
But that doesn't mean that it's not worth trying. I'm not sure that uniforms are the answer, but no matter what you do, there will be people in school classrooms who don't belong there.
