Wet dreams are one thing many don't have so much knowledge about. Therefore, to deal information and theories about it could help.WHY HAVE SOME FREQUENT WET DREAMS, WHEN OTHERS DON'T HAVE THEM?This is propably the most asked question. The old theory is that wet dreams are caused only by semen build up, but this might be wrong. The lymph are able to reabsorb semen build up, and the body has also the ability to release semen build up while urinating. And since it is more easy for the body to release excess while urinating than make a wet dream, why does the body bother with wet dreams? It's a known fact that people who abstain from masturbation are more likely to get wet dreams. The reason might be that if you don't masturbate, you don't reduce your libido.(Masturbating is a effective method to reduce the libido.)WHAT CAN THE CAUSES BE?- Strong libido and high testosterone- levels.- Vivid REM sleep, may caused by much serotonin in the brain.- Unconscious focus on sex, who the person are trying to ignore in the waking life.- Much excess semen that the lymph don't have reabsorbed are just ready to get out. (You may have noticed that if you masturbates when it's long since the last time, you will ejaculate more easily. You will also be more able to get a orgasm, because that's how the male body are made).- It is also a theory that the body use wet dreams to make the person more fertile.- Erected penis, but it isn't necessary to make a wet dream.HOW CAN YOU AVOID WET DREAMS?- Don't think about any sexual before you go to bed. You should keep your mind busy with other toughts. To read a book about something who doesn't have anything with sex or love to do, might help.- Masturbating decrease the libido, but this is only for a short time to several people.- Eating liquorice with glycyrrhizic acid, who is known to reduce the testosterone levels.CONCLUSIONWet dreams seems to be mental, but physical factors like testosterone, semen build up and serotonin seems to play a role too.It seems that over month's, the lymph will have a difficult to reabsorb all the excess. If the body don't release any semen while urinating when it's several months since the last ejaculation, the body could just make a wet dream to "fresh" the glands. This could be a wet dream with nothing sexual content at all, or the dream could be about peeing, and at the same time; the person ejaculates semen while he sleeps.Any comments or viewpoints? My question is: Why would you want to avoid a wet dream? The few that I did have in my life were quite pleasant.
-
I liked waking up to an orgasm, the few times I had a wet dream.

me, too. I just didn't like the wet sheets!!!!! lol

The most puzzling thing to me is how there is a definite trend that they decrease with age. If it were a matter of semen buildup, that wouldn't make sense, because I have stored it up until I'm ready to climb the walls and couldn't have a wet dream. My last one was when I was 22, and I was a senior in college and very busy, and not obsessed with sex. Even though it was half my life ago, I remember it like it was yesterday...she was sssssweeeet!

Your comments and observations are consistent with the informal wet dream research we've conducted over at http://www.wetdreamforum.com
There's still lots to learn about what causes wet dreams, but what we've learned so far is consistent with what you wrote.
Although there is no guarantee of a wet dream if you stop ejaculating through masturbation or sex for a long period of time, there is a definite correlation between time since ejaculation and wet dream frequency.
There is an age factor too, but its not clear at all as to how or why there is. There's nothing clear cut with that either. In our forum, we have a guy in his 40's who gets wet dreams frequently, and we have young guys in their teens who never or rarely get wet dreams. Although most young guys who quit masturbating do get wet dreams eventually, whereas not all older guys who quit masturbating get wet dreams.
So its definitely confusing, and there is NO scientific research out there on wet dreams, which is why I created a discussion forum about them to try to learn from each other's experiences.
