I've been with out a furry campanion for far to long now, and I want one Now, Mutt v. pure bredNO LITTLE DOGS. It has to atleast be bigger then a really big cat lmao, I love labs, (basically all retrievers) and st. bernards, new finnies, ect. What do you guys think?

Thinking about buying a dog :D
-
I love dogs! I keep saying my goal in life is to have cable and a dog.I prefer mid-size dogs...beagles are my favorite.I've heard (although I'm no expert) that mutts are good because the mixing of breeds can often temper some of the idiosycracies of pure bred dogs. Like a beagle's tendency to bark.Hope you get one!
-
I love dogs too, i also need one thats good for multi-climates because i'm going to either get it while im up here in alaska, or when i get back to california. but, i really really want a dog right now. I love dogs Any dog thats bigger then a cat. lol

Pure Bred: You get a medical history, so you know what problems to expect. Can breed or show for $$$. Most of the time very expensive.
Mutt: Cheap (like around $60-80 to adopt, and around that price to buy from some family whose dog accidently got pregnant). If you buy an adult (this can be for adult pure breed also), there may be personality defects you'd need to work on, however, if you get one from a good pound, the major ones should be taken care of. Even very young dogs, like 3 months old and under, can have problems from previous owners. I'm am still working with my sister's dog, trying to get it to be comfortable around swinging ropes (or else I can't jump rope in the house, because he gets terrified). Also, if you had a lab and a weiner dog mix (yeah, it would be weird looking) your dog would have a chance of getting BOTH back disc problems AND hip problems, which are common with both breeds.
Labs and retrievers are very easy to train, are good with people, and in general are a happy go lucky dog. Mine even doubles as a protector, since no one can beat up on me if she's in the room. Newfoundlands I don't know too much about, besides the fact that they are a laidback breed. I like big dogs in general- I feel like they aren't as suseptable to injuries like the little ones are.

Not the kind I own, but Samoyeds are great dogs, in all sorts of weather. You just have to watch which coat you get. THere is one called a working coat that doesn't get all matted up...AND you have to be careful that your dog doesn't get stolen..people seem to like them.Me personally, I like my "wash and wear" Queenslands.AKA blue dogs..(AKC Australian cattle dogs)
-
Oh, those are really good dogs. Although, I think they are a bit hyper, and some have a tendency to bark. I don't recommend cocker spaniels. I think they have a lot more health problems than many other breeds.

I have a golden retriever.. best dog ever.
-
My dog is the best dog ever...lolHe is a "blue" mix...I have NEVER seen one so patient with kids, dogs, and all the other animals that he has been exposed to..wont even chase a chicken! But he is getting old...he is 9 1/2 now
-
Same with my dog. he's had kids crawl all over him and try to ride him like a pony *ahaha* and he'll just lay there and take it. Or move. He's never ever bitten anybody.. such an awesome dog.
I love my baby
-
LOL..this was funny...
My dog is MOSTLY white with black patches...and when he was around 1yr old my baby (now almost 9) was learning to crawl and climb. Well T.J.s testicles were black, and because they stood out on his white underside, my kiddo would go for them every time she saw them...
Poor dog would lay there and moan while the baby tried to remove them...as soon as she let go, he ran to his bed...poor doggie!
A couple yrs later I got him neutered though because he started to like leaving the yard... -
Oh my god i just found the cutest puppy alive: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/aussiedor.htm
Its a mix of australian sheppard and lab
-
AAww I love the ears
-
He is a cutie. That's also a fun site to poke around on.

fthose are th coolest dogs I have ever seen and damned smart.the one I had had blue eyes, it was cool as shit. The only problem I ever found with them is that its part of thier genes to herd.since I did not live ona farm or a ranch he herded us.cut the kids back into each other and group us all up trying to not step on him. My brothr woud bring his kids over and he would herd them up with the rest of em in the back yard, all the kids in a corner.Smart damned dogs. I had a German Shepard once too, she was the smartest dog I ever owned. She knew the dog catchers truck, she would get out and run and when he showed up she would climb (I am nt making it up she really did climb) the chain link fence to get back in the yard.We want a dog, but I either have to settle for a tiny little yapping bastard or move into a house with a yard instead of my condo, we are considering moving.....

get a aussie! there awsome! In reply to: Its a mix of australian sheppard and lab that be a nice one if u want a mutt.but still australian sheppards r awsone! i have a red mearl.cogies are cool to but there small but they can have hip problums but htere not yappie like a pomeranians. we had a mini dobe once and she was hyper... not to yappie but super hyper. ANd we had a siberian husky. she was dumb and killed cats.

In reply to: We want a dog, but I either have to settle for a tiny little yapping bastard EXACTLY! Little yippy dogs i hate those. Im looking into a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, because there is a breeder down the road a ways, and its the perfect dog for me. my brother used to have one, and it was the best dog ive ever seen.
-
I HATE yappie dogs!! We used to have one next door in my old house.. swear i could have strangled the thing
-
LOL
My T.J's mom was a pure bred, she didn't do the hearding thing....When she was small, she got stepped on a whole lot, and stayed away from feet...she was great, but HATED my ex husband, (should have kept the dog and ditched the man) anyway, she would TEAR up the house after I met my ex..
So she is the "keeper' of a blind deaf dog now out on an animal rescue..SHE IS LOVING IT!
Oh, ya, my family helped bring them into the states...So until I was grown, I didn't think any other dog was worth a poop. -
Actually I like some of them. I wanted a wiener dog!My brother was breeding them a while back and I could of got a great deal on one of the pups (he had the male, someone else had the bitch and he was providing services) My fiance is the one that hates all small dogs and doesnt want one in the house. I would be content to have a medium dog, something strong and with short hair I could take hiking and back packing with me she how ever wants a huge dog, some graet big bastard that comes in about 60 lbs. Yappy bastards on a whoe thugh I hate, that bark is annoying as hell and they never seem to shut up, strangling them doesnt sound like too ba of an idea

oohooh ooh! My dad found a Blue and Jack russell mix...WONDERFUL dog..smart! looks like a blue, and is small like a jack..Look around for one of those!
