I'm 18 and just graduated from high school. I've been going out with my boyfriend for a year and a half. We have an excelent relationship (and sex life!) and we're very much in love. We're going off to the same college in the fall and even managed to be assigned to the same dorm! He's my best friend. Lately we've been talking about the possibilities of our future together. He wants us to get married. Not nesesarily soon, but he wants to get ingaged this summer. I want to be with him for a long time. but would i be limiting my social life at college if i did? I don't know what my parents will say... but they started dating at the same age we did... when they were juniors in high school. and they got married their second year of college! HELP! I need to know what to do and say to him when he really does present me with a ring!

Marry young?

If the question of your social life is an issue, you're probably not ready yet.People can change quite a lot during college - I think it might be a bit soon, myself.

College definitely changes you. I think 18 is way too young to get engaged. You're young and just starting out in life, don't be tied down to an engagement.

My sister was engaged for 6 years. From 18 to 24\. She finally tied the knot a few months ago. She's one of the happiest people I know.
It really depends on the person you and your guy are. If he's understanding and not too jealous, your social life won't suffer.
I hope everything goes well in the future.

I've heard of people getting married around 20 only to divorce young a couple of years later.

i've heard that divorce rates in america are greater than 1:2 so when ppl say they are "getting married" i really wonder what that means
