If you don't brush your teeth regularly, and then if you don't go to the dentist regularly for a cleaning (every 6 months), chances are good that you will develop cavities, and brushing now won't fix them. That reqires a dentist.Have you ever been to a dentist? You also need to floss, to help preserve the health of your gums, or your teeth will eventually fall out, even if the teeth themselves are healthy. Now is the time to get into good habits.

Take care of your teeth-- that might work for you
But what's a Canadian farm boy to do -
If you have a cavity, brushing more will not fix the cavity. Once you have broken through the exterior enamel, it needs to be filled or it will continue to decay.

I work in a dental office you could possible have a cavity as well as you could possibly have gum recession (when the gum starts to shrink exposing part of the tooth that has never been exposed before causing sensitivity). Either way it’s best to see a dentist and have him/her take a look. As someone said if it is a cavity there isn’t anything you can do now to reverse the cavity other than having the decay drilled out and having a filling placed. If it happens to be gum recession you can under go some fluoride treatments to help reduce sensitivity or the doctor can put a sealant over the area (which is something we don’t recommend where I work because if any particle of debris is left on the sealed part of the tooth decay will form).Either way get to a dentist and start brushing your teeth at least 2 times a day, once in the morning and once before going to bed. It takes 2 minutes, so it’s not like it’s time consuming. Also flossing is without a doubt recommended for gum health and support, in-between flossing use mouthwash as that’s the next best substitute to flossing.
