hahaha, actually we just got the jetta running and we'll be working on tuning it back up to snuff after its been sitting for a couple years, and we found a decent looking engine for the opel on craigslist apparently from a dealer of sorts that my dads going to call about, and if its something good and working we'll look into trading in the dead dakota if its possible, because he also wants to look at a few parts for the jetta there, including a wheel my brother forgot to take off his car before he sold it to a junker, a wheel that belonged on the jetta so yeahand this ones been buried in the garage for awhile thank you very much!

Very cool! My dad had a 1970 Opel GT, I think it was. Most fun car I have ever ridden in. Sold it when I was 2 though, so I never got to drive it. Have fun with it!

I don`t know anything about cars but that is a cute car

That's gonna be an enormous project; very, very time intensive, extremely frustrating and probably expensive too. But if you do get her to run it'll also be one of the most satisfying and most rewarding experiences of your life. Not to mention how much useful knowledge you'll gain along the way. I've only done minor modifications on my car, but getting in there and doing it yourself makes you feel a whole lot better about your car. I can see why some guys love their cars, not only do they look good, but the amount of sweat and effort gone into them creates a kind of bond.Sorry for going all sentimental on a car thread, kind of contradictive really.

no need to apologise about being sentimental about cars... it's definately something that you have to do to appreciate!! Personally, I drive a lot, so I do love a good sound system, and having done up cars in the past, I decided to do my lil Fiat Punto... which is now competition ready as far as sounds go, unfortunately, i'm moving country and it's not worth taking the lil critter with me, so I have to sell it ... but, damn, it sounds good and, for when you're stuck in traffic... yep... flip down dvd screen mwu hah hah hah... take that M25 congestion heh heh!!!Also, external mods can have an effect on your fuel economy, if you want to be nice to the environment... for example: I've got a big bore exhaust fitted, with a forced air induction kit, which increases my mpg by around 2, lightened race wheels, which give me about another 1 mpg, and M3 mirrors, which (believe it or not) give me 3 mpg!!! so all in all, in making changes to my car, I've even made it kinder to the environment!!! heh hehEnjoy the project, all car projects are great as long as you enjoy it!! ... Just remember that it's about the fun, and enjoying yourself, not about what other people might think to what you've done... I pick up a lot of flack for my car, for the entertainment, but, to me it's totally worth it
