Illist Lyricists Of This Century

Thanks to the ying yang twats we have to deal with soulja boy. i think they collaborated on get low by lil jon. haha i remember back in the day when i was 9 listening to that in my friends garage. thats when we both got into hip hop.
-
pfft you have no idea!I have friends that jumped me for not doing the soulja boy. But I did like the chicken noodle soup LOL. You know they have the jamaican version? called "ox-tail". "Ox-tail and rice and the chicken pon ma plate! pour da graaaveyy onnn!" LOLLil Jon... ahhh flashbacks. I shake my head in shame! lol Get Low... Remember Laffy Taffy. Who knew there would be a day when they referred to your rear end as laffy taffy. I liked Lean Back though. Mainly because it was one of the simplest dances I could teach my friends.
-
hahaha this is the ying yang twats at their best....which is mediocre. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSh_Oc78A4o its kinda sexist, but i find the whole song funny as hell. just cuz lil jon popularized crunk and the whole 3-6-9 hahaha.
-
Ying Yang twins are UGLY!But I used to like one of their songs "shake." We had to do that song for a competition which we LOST but it was still fun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHgutMUedSkvideo is whack but the beat is hot.
-
hahahaha except ice-t owned the shit outta soulja boyhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7FhIUuo6tE
-
LOL! I remember that song and the video. Oh jeez. We dance to that song in a competition too but that was... yeah. How many songs are about getting low? Most of them just get high
-
LOL! I love that guy.

Law and Order....
-
Chuck Norris is currently suing Law and Order for copyright infringement on his left and right legs. But yeah, if I ever saw soulja toy in public I would walk right up and hit him right in the face and shatter his dumb sunglasses in his eyes.

ummm

it's a dumb chuck norris joke i remembered.

Gotta chime in because I don't like any of the rappers on the list... I can just about remember when rap had a message (see the sugarhill gang for example) but I've never really been a keen fan... everyone has a different taste in music, I've abstained from this poll because imo, these so called music artists are atrocious!!
I have however taken part in the rap vs. rock poll... I'll let you guess which way my vote has swung
There's also the alt. rock groups which border into the boundaries of rap, such as: Rage Against the Machine, who are also awesome!!
Though, if we're talking skilled acts of all time, how about we talk about someone really classy... how about for example... Queen, Live at the Bowl (1982) & Live at Wembley (1986) ... possibly their greatest performances ever, now, there was a band, and a showman!! Also, how about Meat Loaf, another a great performer!! I know lots of people will disagree with that, but you should look at their respective performances before you disagree, you may not like them, but they were always awesome show people!!!
Heck there are so many people we could mention, it doesn't even have to be rock... everyone has different tastes, but I leave you with these as examples...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCo1OVNbYFQ Queen Live at Wembley
Let's face it... who doesn't wanna be a "guitar hero" after watching May there!!! heh heh, personally I'm a piano player also, and I only wish I could play as well as Mercury plays there!!!
What you don't see here is the show he puts on really, there's so much more of a show than you see here, but, just because he's an artist who's still going means he's obviously got the so called "mad skillz" as he's been going since... well, since before time began for me!!! lol
There's so much more out there than I could even ever mention, I make it my mission to seek out new and excellent music, from wherever/whenever in the world, which means I also like such bands as:
Opshop -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dX7MktaEMh0
Enjoy... and think about what's better... rap, a music with no soul, a beat that is easy, a riff that any idiot could replicate on a computer (take e-jay as my evidence) or, something warm, with a soul, a music that brings feelings and emotion to you, something that feels as though it fulfills your soul... I'm not arguing that rap is bad here, simply that it is my opinion that rap is bad... everyone's opinion differs, hence my choice to abstain from this particular vote, because there is nothing here I enjoy.
Maybe I just bought people a new choice though  so, at the very least, appreciate the greatness I bring before you, at best, enjoy the music for the awesomeness that it is, and spend the rest of the day taking an exploritory journey courtesy of these (and a myriad of other) bands!!
Have fun

Killah Priest is my personal favourite rap lyricist right now. Gotta mention a few others too, such as:Big PunKrs OneRakim - Possibly THEE greatest of all timeGza - Everyone from Wu-Tang is great but Gza is just the genius lol.I voted for Nas though, hes another i would say is possibly the greatest of all time.
-
No offense... but I hate Rap....
I don't honestly don't know how people can listen to that shit!!!!

i agree totally, lol rakim definitely needed to be up there. damn... i forgot..

well in defense of all my fellow lyricists, to be a lyricist is a difficult task, more difficult than any other job in the music industry... here are some of the things you must go through whilst composing a verse/song
you have to speak onna topic, you have to speak on a broad level, you have to have the listener beable to relate to the song, and thats just ABOUT the song.
now writing the song.. u have to have the vocabulary, and the knact for rap, you have to be able to keep a consistent cadence.
hip-hop is one of the most difficult types of music to compose, and if anyone would like to have a fashionable debate, i'd be willing to have one...

actually linkin parks pretty good, they seem pretty genuine. AC/DC's nice but always seemed too gimmicky, daughtry is looking good, and i havent heard much from 5 finger death punch but if i remember it, what i did hear was pretty decent.
other then that theres nirvana which i dont personally care for but meant ALOT to ALOT of people, even before cobains death.
my personal favorite is Disturbed, at first they do seem a bit like a gimmicky satanic loving band but they really arent. from the songs i can remember theres alot of focus on either political or human emotion.theyre new single, inside the fire, is really powerful.
