Hi,
I am dealing with a verbally and physically abusive father.
The verbal and physical abuse isn't because I've done stupid things, but due to my grades. Compared to other students my grades are average and considering the subjects I am taking, I would be above average, just not according to his standards. Currently, I am doing a very academically rigorous course and am studying the toughest subjects in it! My dad was never pleased with me nor my family (me, my sister and my mother), he is very short-tempered and yells at us for anything we do that is less than perfect.
He used to physically abuse me as a child, when I was only 8 years old (I am now 15). This was due to my low grades (well...low according to his standards), he also kicked me out because I wasn't studying properly and had to stand in the cold, and this was when I was 8 years old, it was extremely embarrassing as random strangers walked by. He didn't stop there, a few months later he pushed me to the ground and stomped his foot on my neck as I was lying there helpless. This was quite sometime ago though.
Currently, he is not as bad as before, but he gets really mad at everything I do and is every controlling, he doesn't let me get a job (I can't be financially independent) and I don't get any privacy at home,
I seriously don't know what to do, I am stuck here until i go to uni (At least that way I can go to another state/country). All i need is some support.

Welcome to A2A, randomthings.
That is indeed a tough situation. You need to pass a test to drive a car, but you don't have to demonstrate any skills at all to be allowed to bring up a child, and though most parents do the best they can, some ought never to have been allowed to do it.
I imagine that your mother is also very unhappy. At some point she may leave him, but she has stuck with him so far and may do so for the rest of your life.
We will give you all the support we can here. You know that it's him and not you; it is good that you know that. It will help you through the next few years, until you can escape.

@randomthings You are indeed in a tough spot. Laws vary from country to country and, without knowing where you are, our answers can be only general. Know that we are here for you if you want to talk. Feel free to PM me if there are things you don't want made public.
