This has reached a point to where I cant Take it anymore. I made a post about this a while back in the STD forum thinkin it was something else....But I Think I have the jock itch from hell. Let me explain this whole thing As much as i Can Cause I really need some Advice here on what i can do to beat this... Ok seems that since last August I have had this itch on my balls.. It started as a itch here and there. and became more like a super itch that almost felt Good to itch. The thing is most of the time It itchs to the point where it feels like I just gave my self Rug burn on my balls where the itch is coming from. The itch always comes from the same places so to say. The bottom Of my balls where it leads to My ass. The inside of my leggs where my leggs meet my pubic area. And on the side of my balls where they touch My inner thieghs. It seems like Where ever the itch is that if that part of my balls touchs My inner thiegh then the itch will sometimes start there too. After i itch it cause sometimes I Cant help it I just need to itch it. After i itch it . it starts to feel like I have given my self Friction burn or maybe like scratched too hard with my nails.... Then after im done with that... they start to get Wet and almost looks like oily/sweaty.... to be exact like when you get poison ivy and you scratch that then it weeps.... But i know its Def not poison Ivy...... Any way After that It will stay wet or I will wipe it off. After that it gets really dry almost like .... Athletes Foot when its all Crusty and Dry..... but not Crusty just looks like Dry skin...... Then the itch Starts all over again and it repeats...I bought cream for Jock itch. The Can and the cream kind.... They seem to work... the cream better then the spray one.... the spray one kinad burned when I sprayed it .... but that could just be the effect i guess..... the cream was a little better..... Seems that it went away for a little bit .... everything was Fine and then it came back....Ok im sorry If this is a Real long post ... but this is Really something that is starting to get on my nerves big time... and I thought the best thing I could do on here is explain my Self perfectly ....anway lets keep going ...Ok now for the weird parts....I have noticed a few things that I think Have to do with my problem here....I have gained weight since moving out here to az..... And this is the heavest i have been ever in my adult life. Im 24 years old but im not like super fat or anything . in fact im not fat at all just got a little gut from sitting around alot here in Az since i dont have my friends here they are back in nj....... What Im getting to is could the weight gain be causing some kinda of heat rash?? OR like friction burn since my legs maybe Rub when they use to never ????? and maybe my balls too against my inner legs??Also add to the fact that I am now living somewhere that its alot hotter then it was back home in nj??I tend to Sometimes skip a day between showers when im lazy or had a long day....... back home this was ok and maybe here its too hot or maybe its just the whole climate is diffrent ???Another thing that bothers me and makes me think is this.... I have a friend that i hang out with all the time.. and I started to notice that he was itching his balls alot.... and it wasnt a normal little itch ... it looked like he was itching the way i would in the privacy of my home.... Like as if you needed to itch till it went away... again i can only Compare this itch to athletes foot.... I mean he would itch it all teh time to the point where we (his friends) started making comments about it and jokes and so on..but i started to think could it be possiable that maybe he had jock itch nad passed it to me on his hands? and maybe the fact that we both have it and thats why I cant get rid of it since he will have it then i will have it then he will and so on and so on.... cause right now mine is acting up again... and yet I dont see him scratching his balls as much...... so thats what made me think this...My girlfriend who i have been with almost 4 years ... and visits me here in az has had sex wit me oral and anal and intercourse and she never itchs once..... so thats why I didnt know what to think about spreading it from shaking my friends hand or touching things he touchs .....But right now its almost back to the worse it was last summer... I think from all the itching the skin is now raw almost and starting ot burn..... I dont know what I can do to help my self with this.... But its starting to bother me when i walk and when I sit I sit like an old man cause it burns lol ..... not funny but its true.... after a good itch and weep..... it burns cause i think from friction or something.....again IM sorry for this long post but I love this site and I was hoping that someone could make me understand this a litlte better...... and i know that most of you if not all of you are going to say goto the doctor.... but I wanted to check here first cause im 24 and all but I dont have a job and I would rather do anything then to tell my parents "hey my balls are acting weird i need to go see the doctor".... but if i need to I will but I think I pretty much almost had it cured and then it came back..... sorry for the long Post....

IM ITCHING TO DEATH!!!

Hey bud, this sure sounds like jock itch but it could also be related to heat and sweating as well. I don't think you and your friend could pass it on like you describe but I'm not sure. I had the same thing in the past and used a product called Lotrimin AF spray. YES, it stings like all heck but it cleared things up. Once you've got this cleared up after every shower (and don't be lazy...get one everyday in that heat) use some powder down there to keep things dry. Baby powder works good but so does Gold Bond. Hopefully this will help. If you can't get rid of this you may need to see a doc for something stronger in a prescription form. Good luck and keep us posted!

Lance covered it well. I'm 95% sure that what you have is a bad case of jock itch. In order to beat jock itch, you need to understand what it is and how it works. Jock itch is a fungus infection in the skin. Like other fungi, it can only grow where there is moisture. All the places you described where you itch are classic jock itch places because there is skin to skin contact which keeps it moist from sweat. The hotter it is outside, the more sweat there is, and the easier the fungus grows. The fungus also feed off of bacteria - bacteria naturally grows in these areas from the sweat. So, to get rid of the fungus, you need to keep the area as dry as possible, and as clean as possible. Here's a couple of tips:1 - You must shower at least twice a day. Do NOT skip a day!! You cans shower once a day after this clears up, but as long as you have this infection, you should shower at least twice a day, everyday. Wash the area with lots of soap and water. I mean wash it really well - not just a quick rinse. Use an anti-bacterial soap, like Dial.2 - After showering, make sure you dry yourself off very well, and use talcum powder (baby powder). You may also want to try a medicated powder like Gold Bond. This will help keep the area dry, and the medicated will help kill some bacteria and fungus. There are also some jock itch treatments and athlete's foot treatments that come in the form of a powder - use these instead of creams. It's best to keep the area dry - creams keep it moist. 3 - Underwear is very important. If you wear briefs, make sure they are washed with bleach in the washing machine, to kill the fungus. If you wear colored briefs that can't be bleached, then switch to white ones. Also try switching to boxers, since they offer better cooling and breathing to keep things drier down there. Again making sure the underwear is always clean. Never wear underwear more than one day. Until this clears up, I would change your underwear twice a day, everytime you shower. Putting old underwear on after you get out of your second shower will defeat the purpose, since the old underwear will be filled with the fungus and reinfect everything. Hope this helps! Good luck.

Like they said, keeping dry is important. My suggestion is after you shower, use a blow dryer on yourself. Squat down and dry everything off really well. Then use the creme, sprays and/or powders.

Sounds all good, assuming it's jock itch (candida fungus). I once had it, and it itches like something I can't describe.antibacterial soaps - are they active against the fungus? Or is the idea to try to prevent a secondary bacterial infection from scratching? Anitbacterial soaps can bother some people's skin (and they mess up the normal flora of the skin), but are useful for some purposes.talcum powder - does the amount of talcum powder that sticks to the skin really help? It seems like it would be quickly swamped by Arizona sweat and make a goopy mess. And it's not good to inhale that stuff when applying it.In tougher cases, prescription meds can be used (e.g., Nystatin powder or creme, or Diflucan (fluconazole), a pill), are used.

Antibacterial soaps are no good against fungus, which are a very different type of cell. If they have any use, it's (as you suggest) to guard against secondary infection.Fungi can be difficult to get rid of. It's important to rub the anti-fungal cream in well, and to keep using it for at least a week, preferably two, after all symptoms have gone. Otherwise it tends to come back. It's also possible for fungi to be resistant against some of the antifungals. It might be a good idea this time to use a cream with a different active ingredient to the one you used last. There's a small possibility it might not be fungal. It could be bacterial, or it could possibly be pubic lice or scabies.

Also, have a chat with your local pharmacist, he or she will be able to recommend various creams and methods that can help.

Sir -I too, share your exact same symptoms. I have experienced this same problem for the past 24 months. I have been to 1 family doc, 2 dermatologists and 2 urologists with no luck. I have been told it's a fungus, it stress, it's pruitis scroti (itchy balls) and that I just have to live with it (yea right, bite me!).I really don't have the symptoms associated with common "jock itch", other than the itching. I don't have the red and flaky skin that seems to be associated with "jock itch". My skin looks rather normal, but I have the same itching and sticky skin that you describe.I have been prescribed every anti-fungal cream and pill known to man with no results. The only thing that provides symptom relief is a prescription cream called Zonalon. This stuff really works, but it takes about 12 hours or more before you really start to get relief. So, on to the cause. I don't know. I am in my mid 40's and in the past 3 years have gained about 30 extra pounds. My next step is to lose the weight and exercise my ass off (which I'm doing now) and see what happens. I have an office job, so I sit on my butt all day. Another thing I notice is that when I work outside and get hot and sweaty, the itching actually subsides considerably. Go figure.. I have no clue.Don't be embarassed to go see a doctor. I understand how you feel, but you have to remember that docs see it all everyday. I swear by the Zonalon and it would be worth seeing a doctor just to get a script for this and get some relief for yourself.Another benefit is that you may actually find a doctor that knows what the hell is causing this that you can share with us.batteryframe

Doctors often have difficulty diagnosing skin diseases, but I'm surprised that two dermatologists couldn't nail it. Doxepin (Zonalon) is commonly used to treat itcching commonly caused by eczema. Eczema can be difficult to diagnose. It often looks like a fungal infection on the skin, or a common allergic reaction. But antifungals don't do anything at all for eczema.Topical steriodal ointments and creams are also useful, but there are side effects from long term use. Elidel is also commonly prescribed, but a recent study links long-term use with an elevated risk of cancer.I'm not saying you have eczema...just a possibility. If you're using doxepin every day for more than a week or so, make sure you're following your doctor's directions.

I have the same problem, but i use Clotrimazole 1%. I went to the doc and he prescribed something. When i went to go get it this young pharmasits saied that this cheaper stuff was "just as good" and it only cost 7 bucks instead of 30. Well i chose the cheap stuff and that might have been a mistake becasue i have already spend over 30 on buying more cream. The cream helps, but i think it's becaue i dont take a shower everyday (mostly everyday), but i wil ltake your advice and up it to twice a day. I'll post results if i have them.
I got probably got this because i used to race small sailboats and i was ALWAY wet all day long and i dont think it ever had time to dry in there for a feww days, and then i was a sailing instructor ALL summer long where i was also wet all day long... Anyway thanks for the advice.
I too dont want to tell my parents that i need to go to the doc becasue of my balls. I went once before becasue i had to have my hand checked out, but i dont have any other problem right now, but i am re thinking about it cause it iches like crazy.

ya i believe ya'll have jock itch, i have/had it too, and if you dont want to goto the doctor i found a few things that help. Check out this link for peoples ideas and home remedies Link
I used the following,
clear nail polish,
and Lamisil AT.Now i must state that it hasn't COMPLETELY gone away but MOST of it has. IT's hard to cover the whole area between my legs but the itching on the side of my legs has gone away. I start by taking a Hot shower and scrub and use alot of soap. Then i dry off the area with a hair dryer and make sure it's really dry and then i apply the clear nail polish to the ichy areas and a little past them. I tried using a black light light bulb but i never saw any change in color. Most of the redness and ichyness went away the first night i put it on. Now i must warn ya'll that it STINGS like crap but i'd rather have a few seconds of pain then have this ichyness for the rest of my life.
Here's a quick step by step process of what i did.
- took hot shower at night, washed with alot of soap and scrubed.
- dryed area with hair dryer really well.
- applied nail polish to affected areas, then let dry.
- put on clean boxers, went to bed.
- woke up and took another hot shower and sprayed with the Lamisil AF.
- repeated process the next night while putting on clean boxers each time i showered.
you can PM me but i am going out of town on wensday but i will try to check it when i can to help out people.
What the nail polish does if change the PH of your skin so the ring worm cant live in your skin anymore. Hope this helps ya'll as much as it did me.
oh and DONT apply bleach to your skin!!!
