So you're just interested in being a little boy. You're just going to kick the wall for a while and go back to your regularly scheduled uselessness. I don't know what point you're trying to prove; my point is, post something useful, or at least not obnoxious, or go away. I'm not sure what you're contributing; do you think highly of people who take and take and take? And getting bact to the topic, if you can handle it, why the f*** are you proud to be white?

White Pride

(Thanking the unseeable forces of that which is right in the universe...)
Thank you for your thoughtful answer. That was my basic point: You should be proud of what you have accomplished, not what you have been given.
Becoming a transexual is something to be proud if. It's an accomplishment. I was proud of having rebuilt a completely dissassembled lawnmower engine in high school shop class, and having it actually run after putting in oil and gas. I am not proud (nor unhappy with) my skin color. I'm not proud of having a pelvis bone either, but I'm glad it's there.
-
ya i couldnt see why thered be any reason to be proud of skin color, unless you managed to safely dye it glossy black or blood red but i did the same thing only it was in middle school, felt pretty good that was a fun class, shit did that just come out of my mouth?
-
Actually, it was in 9th grade, which was middle school at the time. I had a partner who didn't contribute much to the assembly, but he was invaluable in "acquiring" the parts that we needed. As soon as we stopped the engine, it was stripped the way vultures strip a carcass. The instructor blew up at me in one class because I criticized his soldering technique. I'll bet that's hard to picture. The funny is that he was three times my size.Anyway, an offshoot of the pride thing is the current obsession with self-esteem (or is it self-confidence?), where everyone gets a trophy or a certificate, no matter how well or how poorly they do. They can be proud, but of what? The Simpson's did a good job of lampooning that idea last Sunday.

Fox is the mouthpiece of the republican party, or atleast of the US gov.I also have personal dealings with the local fox here at home, I consider them the nation enquirer of televised news. While that rag is certainly part of the media, its also one that MOST people realize is certainly not relevant to reality, I see Fox in the same light.
-
The way I see it is that people should have pride for achievments in a culture that makes success for their race dificult.
-
"Gay Pride" simply comes from being proud of who we are; not being ashamed of being homosexual. I am proud of myself that I don't care what others think of me and I can stand strong and be confidant in who I am, regardless what other people think. I have pride in a lot of gay people who are paving the way for equal rights. There is nothing wrong with having pride for your skin color, it's simply having pride in your heritage. Pride becomes dangerous when you start thinking your skin color, orientation etc is better than someone else’s.
-
But it is different for everyone. I'm sure there are black people who believe they are superior to other races, just as there are whites, Asians and Canadians who think the same way. These superior people are usually the loudest and most aggressive.

Yay! Now feel free to fill out my application form, my lovely Black Bitch.

If you dontt get what your suppsoed to you get an "ungraded". Its retarded. Some people fail some things, society should learn to accept that.
-
Then I am proud of my ethnic extraction the way you are proud of being gay. I've never said I'm proud to be white though, as that would imply some joint feelings of pride with groups I have no sense of unity with, such as Lithuanians or Irishmen. But I am proud to be Welsh-British, culturally and ethnically. Though less so of the ethnically, as I have non-white collegues who share in my pride, but it does feel rather good to know that my roots go way back on this island.

The thread was getting a bit mangey.I agree with what no1 said (that she is proud of her accomplishments, rather than her skin color), but I'd amplify that in that, chances are that she faced adversity that a lot of people don't face, which should give her an even stronger sense of pride. I also agree with Radeki's interpretation ("I think 'pride', in the context of this question, is the opposite of 'not being ashamed' of being what you are.") of Ntro's statement, that it sounds like what is meant is not "pride", but rather a sense of comfort; a lack of shame.Ntro> There is nothing wrong with having pride for your skin color, it's simply having pride in your heritage. This I'm having a bit more trouble understanding. Is the pride in your bloodline, other people from your culture, your skin color? I'm not sure what skin color has to do with anything.Imagine if people didn't buy their cars but were assigned them, in random colors. Would the people who got blue cars be proud of their blueness, and people who got red cars, proud of their redness? Why would someone be "proud" of something as superficial as skin color, unless, as Radeki suggests, what's being discussed is a lack of discomfort.

He's a thought for ya...what does colour REALLY have to do with heritage? Is there really a white or black heritage? I dont think so. I would say Russians and Welshmen have different heritage. They happen to both be white, but does that imply they are the same? Not really.Same with Blacks. Blacks in America have formed a somewhat cohesive grouping as a result of being taken from their homeland, but back in Africa theres no real "Black" identity, instead there are many different identities based on varying culture.
-
Look at that Owain. We are both White. Caucasian. God only knows how far our ancestry goes back! Hell i might be Spanish or Gaul or Celtic! We might even be related to each other!I'm proud to be European, not white. But European! I'm also proud to be Human

but back in Africa theres no real "Black" identity, instead there are many different identities based on varying culture. You would think that that would be a concept that Americans would be able to grasp. Iraq's cultures are tribal, not cohesive. The same goes for much of the Middle East and Africa.

We might even be related to each other! We are all related to each other. Our common ancestors are not that far back, if you do the math, especially within "ethnic" groups (i.e., Europeans, Africans, etc.). Some people are proud in that their features evolved in slightly different directions for reasons having to do with environment (climate, mainly). I don't understand why this is a source of pride, and neither do you, apparently, since you have not even taking a single swag at explaining it.I'll bet you feel good about being white (for whatever reason), but are you embarassed by the bad things whites have done, such as slave trading, Crusades, concentration camps, etc.? Or are you going to disown those things by saying that they had nothing to do with you?

I don't think being human is something I would especially be proud of. Look at what we're doing to the planet and the other creatures on the earth. I don't care what colour people's skin is, like a lot of the poeple on this site say. I was born in Scotland, then moved to Germany, england, Saudi Arabia and now back in England. When I was in Saudi Arabia, which was the main part of my growing up, from 5 til 10, i went to a mixed school and to be honest, the pakistani people I knew were a hell of a lot nicer to me than the british ones. Whent hey started bullying me, I knew I had real friends, even if they were a different race, and hearing people make fun of pakistani's, arab's or anyone just makes me cringe.then I went to boarding school in england, and again, there were people from all over the world living with me and they were mostly fantastic. the only girls I can think of that I really didn't like were english, and that was just a couple of right cows. Now, from what I've written it might sound like i'm completely against english people, despite being British myself, but I'm not. it just so happened that in my life the people I have disliked the most have been people with the same colour skin as me who come from the same country.Where we come from should not have any effect on how we are seen by others, it's how we act that we should be judged on, and not how people of our race before us have acted. I'm not proud to be white, or british, or female (well maybe just a little at being female ) but i am proud to be me, because that is what I can have an affect on. ok, now ii feel like i've been rambling. sorry

Persoanlly I am European in only a geographical sense.I understand what you mean.Sort of related:In reply to:If my theory of relativity is proven successful, Germany will claim me as a German and France will declare that I am a citizen of the world. Should my theory prove untrue, France will say that I am a German and Germany will declare that I am a Jew.Albert Einstein, Address at the Sorbonne, Paris.Einstein did consider himself a citizen of the world.

I read recently that a new discovery to do with using lasers to see through solid objects actualy proves his theory of relativeity incorrect. I dont know how substantiated this is (nor I do know the original theory), but that makes him a German Jew
