If you're referring to laser light's slowing down when passing through certain materials under certain circumstances (Bose-Einstein condensates), it doesn't contradict relativity:In reply to:Slowing light this way doesn't violate any principle of physics. Einstein's theory of relativity places an upper, but not lower, limit on the speed of light.[Harvard Gazette, Physicists Slow Speed of Light]

This laaser was supposed to actualy make it possible to see through objects in some manner, they were talking about adapting it for use with toppled buildings and the like when looking for survivors. Is that covered by what you say? I am not sure.

"If you make light ride piggyback on a beam of light, how fast would the riding beam be going?"
At the speed of light
(No...really)
-
Doesn't sound like it. I'm not familiar with what you're referrring to.
I was referring to an experiment a Harvard physicist did that slowed down light to the speed of a bicycle. After that, someone performed an experiment where they slowed light even further.
I don't think Einstein was proud to be white, but he deservered to be proud of his intellectual accomplishments.
-
R>> If you make light ride piggyback on a beam of light, how fast would the riding beam be going?T> At the speed of lightOr at least, not greater than the speed of light.
-
The speed of light cannot travel faster OR slower than the velocity represented by the letter "C" in physics.Yep...it's the "C" in "E=MCC" (Einstein's famous equation)

> The speed of light cannot travel faster OR slower than the velocity represented by the letter "C" in physics.
That is not correct. c is the speed of light in a vacuum. Do you understand what refractive index denotes?
-
Yup. I used the speed of light to go back in time. I started the Crusades, I gave Hitler power, and i told them to drop a bomb on Japan. All done by a 15 year old! in the near future, Bush will attack Mexico! and Hamburgers will eat people! Explain to me why you somehow think im proud to be white. Have i ever said it? I never said im proud to be Romanian or Hugarian. I said I'm pround of being European? Is that now not allowed?
-
I used the speed of light to go back in time. ...What's your point?> I said I'm pround of being European? You're allowed to be proud of whatever you like. You're allowed to think whatever you like. No mind control is practiced here. What do you mean, you're proud to be European? Do you mean that you're proud of Europe, or that you're proud to be caucasian? For the umpteenth time, would you explain what exactly you're proud of, and why?
-
Not all of Europe is White you know! Spain and Portugal?
I ment as in I'm proud to be a European cause of the great cultures and the people and the history. You know the rest. -
Not all of Europe is White you know! Spain and Portugal?I said caucasian.> I ment as in I'm proud to be a European cause of the great cultures and the people and the history. You know the rest. But what does that have to do with you? Are you proud that you inherited some genetic material from people who actually accomplished great things? Would you be proud if you were born to Arabic parents? Why are you proud of other people's accomplishments? And if you're proud of the things you mentioned, are you embarassed about the slave trading, colonialism, Crusades, concentration camps, Antisemitism, Dark Ages, etc. perpetuated by the Europeans through their history? Are you proud of the years and years European countries spent fighting and killing each other in their many wars?
-
They had to do what they had to do. Are you proud of of your ancestors enslaving black people?
-
Refractive index indicates acceleration...but this does not change velocity. Said acceleration alters the course of light...high gravity like that of a star will do this...bend the light. But the velocity of light remains the same. That's why it is a constant and not a variable in physics equations.
-
My ancestors didn't enslave anyone, as far as I know. They came from Europe in the early 1900's.> They had to do what they had to do.They had to be Antisemetic and commit genocide? Why? They had to spend decade after decade killing each other? Why? What you said applies to the Crips and the Bloods more than it does to a great culture. But you skipped over the important question, so I'll repeat it:In reply to:> I ment as in I'm proud to be a European cause of the great cultures and the people and the history. You know the rest. But what does that have to do with you? Are you proud that you inherited some genetic material from people who actually accomplished great things? Would you be proud if you were born to Arabic parents?

Refractive index indicates acceleration...but this does not change velocity. What on earth are you talking about? Are you saying that light accelerates when it's refracted? Are you saying that light does not slow down when it passes through something denser than a vacuum?> Said acceleration alters the course of light...high gravity like that of a star will do this...bend the light. But the velocity of light remains the same. That's why it is a constant and not a variable in physics equations. How can light accelerate and remain constant in speed? What is accelerating here? Clearly you don't understand what index of refraction connotes.Refraction of Light by Rick Reed:In reply to:As light passes from one transparent medium to another, it changes speed, and bends. How much this happens depends on the refractive index of the mediums and the angle between the light ray and the line perpendicular (normal) to the surface separating the two mediums. The Refraction of Light, part II:In reply to:The ratio of the velocity of light in vacuum to the velocity of light in a medium is referred to as the medium's refractive index, denoted by the letter n. The velocity of light in a vacuum is 3.0 x 108 m/s or about 186,000 miles/s. If we go back to our beach/ocean analogy we can think of the refractive index of the water as something like its density. Air is not very dense at all (its refractive index is 1.0003), so the people run through quite easily; but when they run into water, which is denser than air (and has a refractive index of 1.333), the people slow down and their line bends at the ocean/beach interface. For light, the index of refraction n equals the ratio of the velocities of light in vacuum (c) to that in the medium (v), that is n = c/v.And on and on and on.

As Far as i know Britain is located in Europe? Right Owain?
What i cannot be proud to be from Europe? What is this?So Asia never fought each other, China never fought Korea? Or Japan? Or the Persians never fought the Saracens!?
I wouldn't care if my Parents are Arabic, then i would be proud of being Arabic! It's that simple. Should of knew you would blame something on Europe.
-
What i cannot be proud to be from Europe? What is this? We're going in circles here. You can be pround of whatever you want, but if you come to a thread discussing "white pride", and all you do is say, "I'm proud to be [whatever]" and nothing else, you've added nothing of value to the discussion. I'm trying to get you to tell us why you are proud to be (in your case) European. Your answer is that Europeans have done some great stuff, but you won't, or can't, explain what that has to do with you! You have some genetic material from Europe (as do a lot of people all over the world). Why is that a source of pride for you?> So Asia never fought each other, China never fought Korea? Or Japan? Or the Persians never fought the Saracens!?Don't you get it? I would say the same thing to someone who said they were proud to be Japanese, etc.> I wouldn't care if my Parents are Arabic, then i would be proud of being Arabic! It's that simpleNo, it's not that simple. Why would you be proud to be Arabic? Is the word "proud" being dumbed down to mean "not embarassed; comfortable"?> Should of knew you would blame something on Europe.Congtratulations, you missed the point entirely. All major cultures that I'm aware of have done great things and horrible things, whether European, Asian, or whatever. It's a sad characteristic of the human race, presumably an artifact of our evolution.
-
In reply to:Don't you get it? I would say the same thing to someone who said they were proud to be Japanese, etc. You don't even know what your talking about anymore, do you?

He keeps confusing me by going from 1 topic to another.
What was the orignial topic again?
