North Korea Missle Launch
-
They have fewer enemies, though. You might want to put a Canadian flag on your backpack next time you hike around the world.
-
no canadian flag for me. sorry i might be proud im from the old U.S.
-
Good luck. You're going to get into a lot of arguments. At least I could say, "Donc, je n'ai pas voté pour lui." Excuse my French.(By the way, the Candian flag on the backpack trick was used by Americans who hitchiked across Europe at the end of and after the Vietnam War.)
-
well im sorry but the reason that Europe does not like us because they are not powerful anymore, no more empires for them. They only thing they can do now is mock and hate the superpower that is us.
-
yes facism is fun!
-
We've been living under an administration who interprets the Constitution as giving the executive all the power. And no it's not. The disrespect for civil liberties and privacy by the president and his minions is appalling, and the legislative branch sits on its hands like a bunch of pansies. We're apparently trying to follow the China model. The government is up the ass of all of its citizens, and they don't have much of a problem with terrorism. A government like China's is Dick Cheney's wet dream.I guess states rights were only important when the states were keeping blacks from sitting in the front of the bus and drinking from "white" water fountains. Now the federal government (i.e., Bush and company) get to tell the states what to do. Control, in the style of Kim Jong-il...that's what Cheney dreams about at night.

well im sorry but the reason that Europe does not like us because they are not powerful anymore, no more empires for them. They only thing they can do now is mock and hate the superpower that is us.You really think that's the only reason they have to be unhappy? Man, are you uninformed. You must be getting all your news from Bill O'Reiley.Madrid and London had to deal with major terrorist attacks because of their countries' involvement in the U.S. war/occupation/guerilla war in Iraq. Are you aware of the Downing Street memo? Guess what: the U.S. was manipulating and cherry picking intelligence to justify invading Iraq. The result of the invasion has been an escalation of terrorist attacks around the world. You really don't think anyone has anything to complain about? And now we have nothing left. We're flat out. What do we do about Iran and North Korea? Even Bush doesn't think we should nuke them. Most of the world (even France!) was very sympathetic toward the U.S. after 9/11. What's changed? Is it OK to resent the bully that the U.S. has become?> They only thing they can do now is mock and hate the superpower that is us.Their combined economy rivals that of the U.S. If they spend their taxes on infrastructure, and we spend our taxes on weapons, in the long run, who comes out ahead in the standard of living game?
-
just like the old days eh steve? lol that had good intentions behind it...just saying :P
-
Nothing ever changes. Didn't Samuel Beckett write about that?
-
The North Koreans aren't going to do squat. Ever since they started spouting off the US began setting up a base of B-52's out in Guam AND the ammunition in quantities enough to flatten North Korea...then we told them about it all (in so many words). You don't always need nukes to deter folks...even idiots want to see the light of tomorrow.
-
even idiots want to see the light of tomorrowLike the guys who took down the World Trade Center and crashed into the Pentagon? Like the guys (and women) who periodically blow themselves up in Israel? Like the sucicide bombers in Iraq? Are we certain that the North Koreans are not like that? Maybe they aren't, but maybe...In any case, I'd be surprised if they could build a missile that would reach the U.S., and I'd be equally surprised if our missile defense system could stop it if they did.
-
"Like the guys who took down the World Trade Center and crashed into the Pentagon? Like the guys (and women) who periodically blow themselves up in Israel? Like the sucicide bombers in Iraq?"There certainly is a difference between an idiot and a fool.
-
it has less to do with idiots as it has to do with fanatics. The trouble with fanatics and extreamists is that they are absoluetly convinced that they are right.
-
So are the Koreans idiots, fools, or neither? Given the quality of the intelligence, it seems hard to say. I wouldn't take the idea that they're completely crazy and irrational (as our press and government imply) at face value. Who knows how fanatical they are?
As far as Islamic terrorists are concerned, they're certainly not all idiots. And since a fool is simply a person who disagrees with us, there are a lot of fools.
-
A fool is somebody who chases a rainbow and seriously expects to find a pot of gold at the end of it. An idiot is just somebody who has made a habit of doing stupid things. As for being fanatical, they rank right up there with Osama Bin Boogerhead. But, as idiots, they do recognize when it's in their own best interest to keep the rattling of their sabres (missiles) to a minimum. They have no deathwish like Muslim radicals do. Those folks ARE fools.
-
The North Koreans have been playing the U.S. like a violin, and Iran has learned the lesson. If you are thinking about weapons of mass destruction (i.e., nukes), you're screwed. If you already have WMDs, you're in the driver's seat. The U.S.S.R.'s nuclar weapons probably protected them from an American attack.
It doens't matter who's a freedom fighter, who's a terrorist, and who's chasing rainbows. Their bombs will kill you just the same.
-
"The U.S.S.R.'s nuclar weapons probably protected them from an American attack."
LMAO! Buddy, you are a trip!
-
During the course of the cold war, you don't think it crossed anyone's mind? I worked for a military contractor in the early 80's, and I can tell you that a lot of people thought it would be a good idea to take preemptive action (before Russia built even more missiles). During the Cuban missile crisis, we were closer to the brink than you may realize. Now that the U.S. has a policy of preemptive action, where the U.S. unilaterally decides who might be a strategic threat, and reserves the right to bomb, invade, and occupy, it behooves the despots to have a functional nuclear capability.
-
It always did Steve, Thor, Engineering God of blunder, can think as he likes, but that was the basis of the entire cold war. Keep up with the jones, or fall prey to them.Nothing has changed.I did my time working as a civilian for the DoD.ammo and explosives, I came in contact with people on a daily basis making decisions and who did what and what we did and where stuff was kept and what conditions and know people that are in teh nukes side of it, especially those in the bay area. Iv been privy to the shit, the threat is what keeps peace, not the actual weapon. If a country doesnt have them, they cant retaliate. that retaliation is what kept us out of nuclear wars.as for the cuban missle crisis, it worked its way out nicely after kennedys assassination.some of the shit I read (books, not official government papers) suggest that his death was what saved us in that situation.
